Hello!

One of my first posts on this forum. So lately, I've been having problems with a specific chunk in the Deep Dark resetting. So far its reset itself 4 times and I'm tired of cheating back in the quarry, enderchest, and tesseract. I want to know what mod is causing this and why. The pack I'm playing on is Direwolf20 1.6.4 1.0.14 or whatever, Its the recommended build on the launcher. The quarry is also chunkloading itself

Somewhere over the rainbow.
I wouldn't try to have anything permanent in any special dimension like the Deep Dark, its like never ever setup a base in a magical forest or eerie biome from Thaumcraft, the place looks awesome, but chunks are resseting there for no reason and you can loose all your stuff.

@Dodge34

I know. Its just that Buildcraft Quarries take a long time to quarry out stuff and while it was quarrying, it gets reset. My Quarry is not even 1/2 way done yet :(

There has been a rare bug with ender chests resetting chunks. I have seen posts about it for a year now probably. It always seems to be related to using them with quarries or other high volume automated systems. I used them all the time until I had a chunk reset. Took out my mob farm which was a pretty complicated setup. Lost a couple days of work. Not sure why you need and ender chest if you have a tesseract. The tesseracts in TE3 can transport liquid, energy, and items all at the same time. 1 tesseract beside a quarry takes the items and 2 pieces of conduits connect the power. An ME interface or pipes can pull directly from the tesseract while power feeds another face of it.

What DriftinFool is saying, however, is that your Ender Chest may be the cause of the reset and to switch to using the tesseract exclusively to see if that is truly the problem. It's not difficult to import from the tesseract into an ME system, and he even gave you a few suggestions on how to do it.

I use ender chests everywhere in my main base, this has never caused any kind of reset, but you're making me nervous now, we don't have any quarry either but we have an automated sorting AE Network and have some remote orderer from logistic pipes to get the stuff anywhere we are that is directly connected to the AE Network, didn't know it could cause reset...

Personally, I doubt it does cause a reset. I've never seen any evidence suggesting they do. I use Ender Chests everywhere and have never had an issue, but we might as well remove one variable from the equation here and see if the resets continue or not.

I proved in 1.4.7 that under specific circumstances the chunk an ender chest was in would reset. I did this by making sure the every item in the chunk was moved to their own chunk with no other modded block in that chunk. I also tested this theory out over several attempts, each attempt moving the items around and in every occurrence the chunk containing the ender chest was the one reset. Lastly it wasn't just 1 chunk that reset with the ender chest in it was EVERY chunk which contained the ender chest which reset..

You can test it too it's not hard to simulate, create a server instance using the server build (not a SSP LAN game), connect to it, drop an ender chest somewhere and then turn the power off on your server without terminating the server game console first.

Guaranteed at the time (MC 1.4.7 time) that a chunk reset would occur everytime.

If I could be bothered I'd search and try and dig up that old post it's on here somewhere.

So in clear, we should invest in a battery backup for our server, it was discussed and planned already but we keep postponing that purchase, now you're making me nervous really, if something happens to the power line at my brother house, we may have a lot of chunk resets, or maybe its fixed in 1.6.4 ???

I don't know if it was addressed or not ChickenBones doesn't like changlelogs at all and I couldn't even get him to acknowledge the problem existed, he didn't seem interested. That's not to say he didn't address it, we just don't know if he did or not, after the cold shoulder I got I washed my hands of it and stopped using ender chests.

You can put an import bus on the tesseract.
Since tesseracts auto eject into inventories, and ME interface works and is cheaper than the precisions bus. A normal import bus can't keep up with a fully powered quarry.

I have never seen anything official and I never had an issue using them for over a year. Then one day, it happened and I decided it just wasn't worth the chance. I had an MFR grinder, ender chest, and MFSU in the chunk that reset. Everything else was vanilla. Just google chunk reset or something similar and you will find the one thing that most had in common was an ender chest. I still use them with ender pouches so i don't lose stuff if I die, but I avoid them with farms, mob traps, and quarries. I try not to automate them. I don't think I have ever heard of anyone having the issue unless they were automated.

More important than battery backup is server world backups at least every 12 hours with archives that go back at least a week. Got it for my server just in case the world wants to take a dive, it will only take at most 8 hours of work away. Also good to test the integrity of said backups on occasion just in case.

Its already done using Cobian Backup (nice freeware that can do awesome things), the world is backed up every 10hrs to the cloud and every 2hrs to another hard drive on the server, there's also a weekly complete backup of the server every sunday at 3am that both goes on the cloud and on another hard drive just in case.
