Chinese Characters Spamming the Forums

Why are these spam posts with all the chinese letters not being dealt with in a timely manner?

I check the forums every few hours or so and clean them out, except when I'm sleeping (I live in EST)

They do tend to pile up a bunch while I'm sleeping I cleaned up a bunch of them when I logged in this morning (2.5 hours ago or so).

Just from the patterns I see, I strongly suspect our site url is sold or otherwise traded to people who make money by link seeding (putting site urls into forums to increase searchability by e.g. google).

It usually follows a pattern where the user makes a couple posts (bot-testing) and then runs the bot, adding a new message every minute.

Dunno if we IP ban. I do ban the users every time, but that's meaningless if its just the login.

I don't know about others but I have to work and sleep. It's hard to do 24/7 monitoring manually.

The real question is why they are not handled automatically.

I'm not the man to talk to sorry. But I can tell you that IP banning is always tricky. A single IP is usually meaningless (most users have non-static IPs to begin with) and banning a range has the risk of sweeping up legitimate users.

I already report it and you can just ignore the poster and refresh your page and it disappears.

There isn't much we as posters can do other then report and ignore. I mean someone could pm watch but I'm sure that has been done.
