And, finally, my Estate complex.
Looking in from the ocean at my dock/mooring platform, you can see my tree harvesting schema in the background. I have found that 2x2 Spruce Trees produce the most logs and saplings of any vanilla tree. So I have 3 rows of 2x2 Spruce Trees that can shot up ~40+ blocks, at least. I actually have a whole Tree Row, with room for growing all trees, from Oak to Dark Oak to Jungle trees. Don't have any good shots of it here today.
Needless to say, my Wood Settlement has plenty of torches and charcoal.
........I think I may have a problem.
There is something so satisfying and so zen about systematically chopping down 20+ 40-60-block tall Spruce Trees. I can't explain it.
This is the view from the very top of the Spruce Tree platform. It overlooks my out-going path. to my immediate left (not pictured) is the small hill/cave where I first sheltered. The sign proclaiming that it is mine still hangs above the door......I still haven't done much with the cave itself. Though the cave was originally part of a cave system, which is now blocked off. And has sort of become a mushroom farm, because I planted a couple in the cramped confines of the cave, and have spread throughout the blocked-off cave system.
Further to the left (also, not pictured) is what used to be my wheat/carrot/potato/pumpkin/melon farms. These days I can't keep carrots in the ground because here, too, I made a decided effort to breed up rabbits, and now they've overrun the damn place. Also cows. I didn't have enough leather, now they're everywhere. But because leather has a bit more utility than rabbit drops, I don't mind the cows so much.
.....also the banners used to be Custom NPCs lamps until a 1.7-1.8 upgrade. that, or a 1.8 version change. don't remember which at this point. But they still produce light. Go figure. In the top right of the screenshot, you will see the unfinished portion of a Watchtower, keeping an eye over my mine, which is hidden by the hill.
And, lastly, this is looking back from the Watchtower perchy. You can see both the Spruce Tree harvest framework sprouting up above the hill, as well as the Lumberyard just to its left.
At the intersection in the path with the chests, you might be able to make out the (currently closed) mine, and my Mine Foreman standing guard.
I love this little valley, and it will soon fill up with the homes of miners, mineral storage facilities, smelteries (in the sense of furnaces. Again, just Custom NPCs atm), and more.
Next time I'll take a few more pictures, but this is what I have now.
