First of all, if this isn't the right section of the forum to post this in, please move the thread or point me in the right direction.
Right before going onto my actual questions, first a small intro to give an idea what I know of Miunecraft/FTB.
I only started Minecraft with the FTB Unleashed pack for 1.1 (or something like that).
I played with a couple of friends who suckered me in, and now this has become a game I revisit from time to time.
In the Unleashed version I usually stood and watched as others started building machines, setting up networks and so on. Picked up a few nice tips for doing things. Then of course I started testing some things out myself, seeying if it would work. And that is the most fun part for me.
Now I revisit FTB again (woohoo) but downloaded the Direwolf20 pack for 1.7.10
This is so much different than the things I was used to. This version really makes me start anew, but also raises a ton of questions, and I've been hooked on Direwolf20's mod spotlight trying to figure some things out.
In the older Unleashed version I played, I blew up quite some machines and conductive pipes due to being not careful. Was no problem then as resources weren't scarce at all (thanks to my friends).
I am playing solo now, and have set up a EU generating network (IC2) with geothermal generators. Once again, I was used to doing this.
Now I see RF has become the main (or better more universal) power to work with.
As I understand, it the conversion is : 10Rf = 1MJ = 2,5 EU. As it seems I have more options with RF production, I want to switch over my power generating system, and hold the current one solely for powering my AE2 network.
But materials are much harder to come by now, and wasting them really hurts.
I prefer the EnderIO conduits because I can bundle them with item conduits and the likes (which by the way is a totally superb feature!).
For the IC2 machines I still have, I'm thinking about using Rednet Energy Cable cause it seems to transport all 3 power types, but does nothing but move power.
Now onto my questions (if you would be so kind to shed some light on them) :Now onto my questions (if you would be so kind to shed some light on them) :
Mind you, I am using the Direwolf20 pack as provided for by the launcher, I have no clue how to manually update separate mods, or figure out what conflict might arise by doing so.
1) The different power pipes (Ender IO Conduits / Rednet Energy Cable / ...). They seem much more configurable then the old pipes before.
However do they still blow up machines, or blow up themselves if connected to a larger power output system?
The Energy Conduit (basic version from Ender IO) says it can transport 640RF/t max, but most of the machines say they can only take 20/40 RF/t max. I can't seem to find a smaller cable to cater to that.
Or does the cable only supply as much RF as is needed?
If I hook up that Energy Conduit to my Redstone Energy Cell outputting 2000Rf/t, will it only transport the max of 640, or will it blow itself up?
2) Am I better off using a multiblock Capacitor Bank from Ender IO to act as a buffer between the Power generating machines & power consuming machines? (I like a buffer so some thing still work when my lava runs out). But this one also ouput a base of 1000RF/t, so this is tied to my question above here.
3) Does anyone know what the Blood from the Nether is used for? I pumped up quite a bit of it already. Currently storing it, but I don't know why. Google searches for this come up with nothing. I was hoping to use it for Blood Magic, but nothing seems to indicate that would actually work.
It's called Hell blood, but the name it uses ingame seems to indicate something is not right as it is labeled hell_blood. I think it's from Plenty 'o Biomes (not sure though).
Picture of it here (yea don't mind the pink sword hehe) :
I think those are the most important questions for now.
Off to my world, need more supplies for the AE network to take shape!
Thanks for reading, and thank you for any replies.
Stay frosty!
