1In my opinion, there shouldn't be X threads about the same thing, only one.
2In my opinion, you shouldn't resurect a thread

Where's the middleground here? finding a current thread discussing the topics they are looking for?

My opinion: You should, first off, check if there's a thread where your problem was already solved. If you don't find one, create it!
