Im actually really curious as to why the beyond modpack doesn't have the galacticraft mod? I mean its all about planet and going to the beyond but no outer space? Obviously there could be a valuable reason as to why not, since I bet I ain't the first to mention it, but it would be cool to have it on eventual updates!

Simple answer, the FTB team didn't include it. They are the pack authors and it is their choice not ours as to what they do or don't put in. Also, keep in mind that everyone is different and what they want in a pack is different. For example, I personally wouldn't want Galacticraft. So if this is a mod you want included you can always put it in yourself after you install the pack. The nice thing with the FTB kitchen sink packs and the curse/twitch launcher is that this is very easy to do.

The FTB packs aren't made for a handful of people. They're meant for the masses. That means they have to carefully pick which mods work best together, test them, try to config them to make them all work with each other, etc. It needs to be more stable than someone's random pack.

It seems like GalacticCraft didnt' make the cut, and that's probably because of the resource to interest ratio. Nothing stopping anyone from adding mods to their own pack, though.

As I understand it Galacticraft didn't play well with the other mods and caused problems.

I may be wrong, though... My understanding tends to daydream occasionally :D

@Hambeau I think you are correct. I remember adding GC to a pack of mine once and it did something really goofy to the aluminum ore generation - and you can't play GC without aluminum.

I have never played a pack that included Galacticraft which was also stable. I love the concept, but if my game can't last long enough to see my first launch, it's not worth adding (IMO). Obviously, some have had amazing experiences with the mod, and I hope some day that it can be implemented in a way that makes it stable and balanced enough to fit nicely in a non-amateur pack. From what I've seen, it would take a fair amount of configuring and CraftTweaker to make it worthwhile, and then it all relies on the code to hold up it's end.

Define stable? I've never played a modpack that was stable at all, but I tolerate a reasonable degree of instability, e.g. chunks failing to load every few weeks, that sort of thing.

Infitech2 is pretty stable and it includes GC fwiw. But your definition of stable might preclude it :)
