Before this post even starts, I do not mean to spread hate. I just want to know the public's opinion.

As Modded Minecraft 1.7.10 is coming to a close, many new mods popped up, and got updated, and there were many great mods. However, I have always wondered what is the best mod. To single it out, I have made a bracket. To find out what is the best mod of Minecraft 1.7.10.

I have made the bracket, and I had some rules for the mods:
1. Must NOT be a mod that is mainly an add on to another mod. So that means mods like Extra Cells or Thaumic Energistics is out.
2. Must be a mod that effects gameplay. That means mods like Optifine, Journey Map, and NEI are out.
3. Must be a popular mod. Also must be in quite a few modpacks.
4. IF NOT INCLUDED IN THIS LIST, and follow rules 1 and 2, you may suggest a mod. And it Might replace another mod. This rule is valid until Round 1 of the winners bracket, part one and two, are finished.

Without further ado, here is the bracket:
http://bracketcloud.com/tournament/72976

This bracket is double Elimination. Mods are placed in the bracket Via RNG.

But how do I vote for the mods?
I will post strawpolls, They will be up for 3 days each. One section at a time.
Going Winner Round 1 (1st Half), WInner Round 1 (2nd Half), Loser Round 1, Winner Round 2, Loser Round 2, Loser Round 3, Winner Round 3, Loser Round 4, Loser Round 5, Winner Round 4, Loser Round 6, Loser Round 7, Winner Round 5, Loser Round 8, than the Winner Bracket winner, and Loser Bracket Winner against each other.

The Bolded Rounds on the list up there are the ones going right now, If done, will be Underlined as well as bolded.

So, now after the introduction, here are the voting for right now:

Winner Round 1 (2nd Half)
http://www.strawpoll.me/11060473

http://www.strawpoll.me/11060491
http://www.strawpoll.me/11060496
http://www.strawpoll.me/11060498

Again. This is not to create Arguments. This is to see what the opinion of the community is.

Thanks for your opinion

Eebus: Not in enough modpacks
Hardcore Ender Expansion: Not in enough modpacks
Aura Cascade: Not in enough modpacks

I kinda feel like you skipped the MOST important step: Letting people actually nominate the candidates for the bracket.
This just looks like a list of your personal favourites. Some of them I have not even heard of, yet you eliminated mods that have been in packs I have played because they "Must be a popular mod". And all but a few of my favourite mods are absent from the list :p

Oh and the double elimination is the worst method ever of getting an accurate measure of this. The number 1 most popular mod(of your list) might win, but number two could have been eliminated in round two.

The way I made the mod list is by taking mods that have been in quite a few popular modpacks. Some of the mods are in here because they are influential, some because they are really popular. Also, what are your favorite mods? To be honest, I am not a witchery fan, but I included it not because it is a favorite, but because it is very popular. Also, double elimination is an accurate way, because if the two most popular mods are battling in the first round, one does not just go out all together, it gets another chance. But for your favorite mods, it might be because they are add ons, But I see some changes that could be made, so I have changed 2 entrees, Erebus with Steve's Carts, and Hardcore Ender with Railcraft

If you come to any conclusion other than:

Best mod for 1.5.x: Thaumcraft 3
Best mod for 1.6.x: Thaumcraft 4.0
Best mod for 1.7.x: Thaumcraft 4.2.x
Best mod for 1.8.x: Thaumcraft 5.x

Your methodology is wrong.

Thaumcraft is not the only mod in existence you know. And this is for 1.7 mods.

Ok, Because of complaints, I added a list for mods that some would want on the list, but are not, and added reasons for them. If anyone has a mod that should be on the list, but is not, please tell me, before the first two rounds of polls are finished.

But who determined the definition of "Popular Modpack"? This is the point I feel that @rhn is making. "Popular", by definition in almost all accredited dictionaries is defined as a "Consensus of the populace", not "A list chosen by 1 person".

By Popular modpack, I would say it is a modpack that has gotten a good amount of attention to it, like FTB Packs, or Popular Curse packs, or etc. But remember if you ask for it, I could replace on of the mods on the list with a suggested one.

Current Standings:

Draconic Evolution with 3, against Witchery with 2
Magical Crops with 4, against ProjectE/EE3 With 1
Mekanism with 5, against Big Reactors with 0
Enderio with 3, against MinefactoryReloaded with 2
Tinkers Construct with 2, against Railcraft with 0
Buildcraft with 3, against Thermal Expansion with 2
Botania with 10, over Industrialcraft 2 with 1
Aether II with 3, against Ex Nihilo with 3.

Of first predictions, I am surprised with Magical crops winning against ProjectE/EE3, but I see why.
Botania Crushing IndustrialCraft, I did not expect it to be that much crushing though.
And, @GreenZombie Thaumcraft will come in Part 2.

Remember, you can suggest a mod that should be in it at any time before Winners Bracket section one (Parts one and two) have finished.

To be honest, half of these mods I have never heard of.
And, I did say no mods like NEI, or Optifine in this list.

BUT. I found out I left out 2 very important mods from this.

Taken Out Iron Chests and JABBA for Natura and Biomes o' Plenty

I have the feeling that Inductive automation needs to get into that list as well due to the explosion of anti-matter bombs being able to explode bedrock. Not to mention the fact that the default explode area is also nothing to laugh at.
It is defiantly one of the more useful explosions due to it storing all the blocks it destroyed :)

I also think it should be included in the best automation list. Not due to how good its pipes are (though, instant transport between the input and output with a speed of 1 stack per tick is pretty darn fast) but due to the fact that its machines can be run extremely fast, are the most configurable blocks in term of input and output. (if you want you can have one side be input and output for fluids, items and energy at the same time for multiple slots.) and its farm can be pretty intelligently be said what to do to the point it can plant saplings, put bonemeal on it harvest the logs and put fire on the leaves. (and much, much more). Its quarry, builder and farm are also all peripherals for CC and OC for even better control of what they do. And you can even automate crafting and smelting inside your inventory and the power for those items can be either generated inside your inventory, teleported into your inventory or just use energy containers.

Ok, Due to popular demand, IBCM/Defence Tech is in, but the last small storage mod, Storage Drawers, is taken out.

Current Standings:
Draconic Evolution is winning against Witchery 6/3
Magical Crops is winning against ProjectE/EE3 6/2
Mekanism is winning against Big Reactors 6/3
Ender IO is winning against MFR 8/1
Tinkers' Construct is winning against Railcraft 5/1
Thermal Expansion is winning against Buildcraft 7/4
Botania winning against IC2 14/2
Ex Nihilo Winning Against Aether II 6/4

However, I will make this offer.
Would You want a complete remake of the bracket. This way, we would do 48 mods instead of 32, and have 24 winners, and 8 "Wildcard" Mods. Or we could have a 64 mods. Its Up to you. And, if you want a remake of the bracket, please list at least 10 mods.

I'm not even sure how you can treat Project E and EE3 as 1 mod when they are 2 completely different projects, by different authors, with different mechanics.

The way I saw is they basicly have the same concept, of every item has an "energy" that you can use to turn certain items into other ones.

By that reasoning you would group Thermal Expansion, IC2 and EnderIO together as one as well

Ok, let me put it this way:
EE3 Used to be EE2, but then got updated with quite a few changes, but ProjectE is for people who don't want those changes.

Voting for Winners Bracket Section 1 Part 2 should be up soon!
