Oh hey, isn't it such a huge oversight that a meeting of dissidents in a building that people couldn't get into before they were let in left the door open during the actual meeting such that anyone passing by could just walk in :p

Alternatively, how do you think a bunch of shadowy guerrilla fighters would respond to a stranger showing up to their rendez-vous point before claiming to be on their team?

Alright, next GM post is up.

Institute peoples have the chance for a little interaction - make sure you get to your deployment on time!
Partition members will each be fighting a droid (WOO! COMBAT!) I will set up a collaboration space for that to happen on.
Dylan, rather than fighting a droid, you need to explain your presence to a paranoid android (ooh references).

Due to the need for collaborative posting (Institute members can make collaborations with each other to allow for brief conversations) and also due to the time of year, this will be a 2 week post cycle - you have a fortnight to get your posts in.

Finally, I think there's scope to make this OOC a little more entertaining/inclusive. So allow me to announce:

THE 1ST ROLEPLAYVISION SONG CONTEST!

If you want to enter, all you need to do is give your character a theme song! Stat points are on offer, so get your entries in!

1) I've made a skype group for us, everyone is in it save for Ermintrude who I'm fixing right now.

2) Sy's theme tune would probably be Skrillex's Bangarang. Never been a fan of dubstep but it seems to go well with combat sequences.

Alright, pay attention

Following a somewhat...unforseen incident in a battle recently, I've had to recalibrate the damage scaling - for the sake of characters not dying to one really unlucky defensive roll. The new scaling is as follows.

1 DMG = Exceed defense roll
2 DMG = Exceed 2 x defense roll
3 DMG = Exceed 4 x defense roll
4 DMG = Exceed 8 x defense roll
5 DMG = Exceed 16 x defense roll

This comes into effect immediately, so I can test it in the remaining droid battle before PvP truly begins. It shouldn't affect the vast majority of instances - however when an attack results in 24 damage from a single shot due to a bad roll, you know it's time to tweak the scaling slightly.

In addition, just as clarification, abilities that reduce stats cannot reduce those stats to less than 1 unless otherwise stated. Some abilities that reduced stats would break mechanics if they dropped to 0.

Finally, only two characters have had theme songs assigned - Marquese and Syderis. Do you want Marquese getting more stat points? Seriously?! Get those songs in - with links so I can listen to them.

I had a draft written up but Xenforo deleted it. That'll teach me not to use notepad++ :c

Against INA with a balanced stat allocation, instant-death is a concerning possibility left to RNG. Against Gardenia or Dan, that 7 vs 1 roll is basically instant-death that would need an RNG miracle to survive. Then again, I suppose that's the point of a sniper.

As far as I know, he's on my side, so I'd love Marquese to get more of a buff. Either way, this song contest seems like fun and Database makes a really good battle theme for INA:

To be fair, it's only the first attack. He's unlikely to succeed another stealth due to being retaliated against. Retinal augmentation is very much less likely to work with increasing enemy agility of course, and FMJ can only happen once every third turn. And as you say, That's how snipers work.
