I've looked around in everything related to nodes but I haven't seen anything like what I've ran into.

Theres a node near my base that eats you alive and its surroundings at about 1-12 block range in all direction. Its like a black hole, eats everything and just flings you around until you die. The first time I got caught up in it I got lucky and manage to escape. It flings me around so much I cant break it with anything and the mining laser simply end up going around in circles until the beams disappear. When I look at through the goggles it looks just like a normal node until I get in range and then I die. It also seems to eat up the tomb as well or at least it eats up everything before a tomb is created by the mod.
Biggest issue is that I've ran into another node just like this but in the nether and lost everything I had and I cant figure out how to kill it. Any thoughts?

Obsidian counters it so you can surround it with obsidian put some slabs on top and equal exchange to glass and you have a hungry node in a jar. now you can move it where you want.

My nephew got caught in one of these on our server a few weeks ago, I had a few laughs at his expense before I fixed it, lol.

Please what would be evel is putting it in a reactor room :p
Only if it's a ReactorCraft reactor room, and it's just out of range of the reactor itself, but still close enough to ruin the coolant systems. And if it has a SCRAM system, then it has to ruin that too.

If it's a fusion reactor you just need to knock out a VDG or two and leave everything else intact.

But then there isn't a massive radiation leak to make the whole area unlivable...

Have you ever seen what happens when a VDG goes down on a fusion reactor? Lava everywhere.

You ever seen what happens when a nuclear fission reactor goes critical and is ruined? Lava is the least of your worries...

Still, a fission reactor is fairly cheap, and most people (hopefully) don't build them in or around their base. Fusion reactors, on the other hand...

You lot sound like bloody greenpeace.
They're insane and hate nuclear reactors and use scaremongering to try and convince people they're bad and you should be afraid of them. They're horrible people and don't know jack shit about nuclear reactors. I know jack shit. Met him in person, in fact. Nice guy.
I also know more about nuclear reactors in real life then most Greenpeace folks. But this is minecraft. They ain't got shit on us here. Neither does WHSM, and OSHA. PETA is gonna have a shitstorm when we show them our "farms" and how we get our Pink Slime for our Mining LASER systems in MFR. But hey, they can't stop us, so may as well rub it in their faces.
I know what happens when a reactor in real life is getting too hot. A SCRAM event. Sounds bad, like you should run for your lives, right? Actually, if the event didn't trigger, that's what you do. It did? Everything's gonna be fine in a little bit, and the reactor will start running again shortly. Hence why if the reactor can do a SCRAM event, you have to sabotage the whole thing, and hope that it isn't using magnetic systems to hold the control rods up. And even then, if the whole area has concrete walls, floors, and getting in and out requires some esoteric system(such as my preferred one, a Shell storage in there, then build the whole facility knowing that only the shell can do things in there), the danger is null.

It's evil, sure, but only evil since it's expensive. Nuclear fallout is more evil IMO, and a fusion reactor making lava all around when one piece is damaged is boring to me. May as well send an antimatter explosive in there.

Alright, good point. Messing up one of the magnets would be eventually be on the same radiation level IIRC. But if someone was dumb enough to built a fission reactor in / near their base, then by all means, hungry node that thing.

No, that's the thing, the radiation is nil from a fusion reactor in such a event. Fusion Reactors are insanely clean. The radiation comes from the Hydrogen isotopes. Gasses. If they leak, before it reaches the edge of the parking lot, it's below background level radiation.
