Hi,

I found out about the RC boring machine and it sounds great. But I understand that its nor working like a MFR Laser Drill which just create the ores out of the Void.

The boring machine actually create a real hole in the world until I stop it. So my problem with it would be that this makes the world folder bigger every new chunk it reaches and with the time I will get to the max. size on my server.

Or is it not working like this?

I'm not quite sure what you mean, but it does indeed work like your second paragraph, sort of like a sideways quarry that continues forever.

what I mean is that if it goes forever in one direction, it will generade world each time it comes to a chunk were no player was before. So this world gen makes the world file grow. So assuming that I have the boring machine runing 24/7@max speed. after a while my world will get very big and since my server provider has a limit of 20GB server space I will hit this limit relativly soon.

Yes, that is correct, it will generate new chunks from my understanding. I'm not getting what your question is though. How to prevent it? I would look into the configs, because Reika tends to be very good about adding config options.

well, the question was if it generate new chunks. Because if yes, there won´t be anyway to prefent it.
only way I see would be to put it into a Mystcraft Age and when this age is to big, delete it and create a new one. But this would make me to watch the file all days.
I will go with MFR Drills then. :(

Or you just reduce the torque enough that it can't go through i.e. bedrock, and you place a bedrock wall where you want the mining operation to stop

Well this would not fullfit my goal to have a never stoping autamatic mining sistem that gives me all ores I need.
A MFR Laser does this. But I will have to setup more then 1 to get enought ores.

The world file won't get as big as you think it will. Especially since it only generates one chunk at a time. It'll take a long time for it to even hit 10 gigabytes, so I suggest throwing it in the Deep Dark, then every ten or so days go in, grab the boring machine, then reset the deep dark. Could probably wait a whole month.

I will do some tests then. and see how fast it grows. Atm i still need to get this damn jetfuel automized :) thx!

Small question: Is it possible to change the beheavior of the logger?

I made a tree farm with a Arboretum and a logger. I finished the sides of with balsa wood planks and the logger is cutting down away the balsa instead of the oak trees.

It is probably due to saving ItemIDs then the planks and logs might be using the same base ID and the logger then cant distinguish between a balsa log and planks. Best bet would be to make sure you are outside the loggers range or try and use microblock/slab variants of the balsa instead.

Does an Ender-Thermic pump stop chunk loading when it has filled whatever tank it's emptying into?
No it keeps 2 chunks loaded always: The chunk the pump is in and the chunk currently being pumped from. If it unloaded the chunk it is in it wouldn't be able to start up again.

Can't get MFFS Interdiction Matrix to work. It either affects everyone(without the Biometric Identifier), or affects no one(with the Biometric Identifier).
What do I have to do to make it only effect a specific player(a Paynus who constantly burns down my roof)

Forget defenses. The best solution is disproportionate retribution.

Find his base, set up a forward attack post in perfect TNT cannon range, bombard that sucker into submission.

Then march in, rob anything that's left, take a poo on his carpet then burn the rest of everything to the ground.

Sweeeeeedish styyyyyle!

That's not enough. I recommend getting TEN TNT Cannons. Also, if he uses a Nuclear Reactor of some sort, make it go boom.

I like the cut of yer jib :)

I'm pretty sure one of my hilarious 640-TNT per volley monstrosities would probably just about do the trick by itself. Might kill the entire server from the lag-inducing redstone though...

Ah Mojang, why does Minecraft have to be an unoptimized Java game...?

Reckon they'd be afraid if a bunch of nerds turned up across the road from their offices and started building a very blocky artillery piece out of cobblestone?
Hmmm... I bet I would. Not sure about Mojang on a whole though.
On another note, since this IS a Q&A place, what are some good FPS increasing tips? I'm hitting 6 FPS on a low and 20 on a high. A bit of help?
