Hey guys! I'm getting close to making my first Alveary ever! What bees do you guys recommend putting in there first? Imperial/industrous to produce stuff to make more alvearies? =P
Yes you will want to have at least one of each in the beginning. Not only do they make pollen/jelly for more alvearies, but they are also excellent at producing honey that you are going to need quite a bit of for alvearies and bealizing for future breeding.
Also remember it is rather cheap to upgrade alveary blocks to Frame housings. Adding just 3+ cheap untreated frames to an alveary will greatly increase its output.

I started playing the new Horizons pack today. I made a Pulverizer, and then I realized I have no idea how to power it without a sterling engine or something similar...

Whats an early game method of power production? There are lots of mods in this modpack I am not familiar with.

Clockwork engine is a good idea. It's "powered" by being right clicked on to wind it up, and when it's heated up the highest it can go without hurting you, it's a pretty good output. Little pricey, but worth it in my opinion

Else sterling is the way to go (Unless you're on 1.6.x, then you could use the dynamo's from TE's own mod)

Clockwork is from forestry if I am not mistaken, so thats not really an option in Horizons.

To be honest that was what confused me the most when I looked at this new pack. What exactly would I use to make power to few "conventional" mods?

I'm new and I just need to know do we use the normal minecraft account to get into FTB or just use the FTB forums one? Because I don't want to have to pay for minecraft because I don't have the money.

Yes you have to pay for Minecraft since FTB(and the army of modders) is just adding to the game(In a spectacular way!), not making the game them self. So you are still playing the game developed by Mojang. But as far as game prices go, Minecraft is extremely cheap! And I can guarantee that you can get almost endless amounts of fun and entertainment out of Minecraft and added mods.

Wait what? I thought the old launcher couldn't handle 1.6 packs, and the new launcher was being delayed without an ETA? Since when do we have a new launcher update AND 1.6 packs?
Since... Today? or yesterday depending on where you live I guess :p
And as far as I understand, its still the old launcher. And its not a matter of the new launcher being able to do 1.6 mods, but its a choice of changing and grossly updating and improving the launcher at the same time as going from 1.5 to 1.6.
You should read this:http://forum.feed-the-beast.com/threads/why-no-new-launcher.35040/
It is very illuminating!

Yeah, that's what I linked in the very post you quoted. It lead me to believe there wouldn't be an update for a while. Guess they snook in an unannounced one then.

Ahh lol, I assumed it was another post :p sorry about that.
And as mentioned, the update to the launcher is NOT the new launcher. I assume the update was just to enable the new modpack with the purpose of giving people something new to try out until the main launcher and modpacks are ready.
