Anyone using 9 or close to 9 different inputs into MFR Bioreactor ?

If so, how are you maintaining maximum diversity and what inputs are you using ?

I'm trying to figure out a way to keep as many (up to 9) bioreactor-able items always in the input. Haven't built it yet, but am assuming it will require some form of selective input throttling to keep from filling it up with fewer and fewer types as the slowest production rate inputs are exhausted.

Am thinking throttling the output so the input is always full is the easiest way. And, for unthrottled output, ME Level Emitters on the input bio-items pointed at different (color-coded) RedNet cables and an MFR RedNet Controller might be the brute-force way. But, that's up to 9 LEs.

Anyone have an elegant setup they have working already ?

from what i heard bioreactor prevents same items in different slots. so keeping that in mind there is no need to create external systems to prevent that.
however if needed using LP`s supplier pipe or TC3 clay golems s the best option.

I use Jungle saplings, spruce saplings, birch saplings, oak saplings, MFR rubber tree saplings, wheat seeds, pumpkin seeds, potato's and Carrots.

So I have a tree farm with the 5 trees in it and a crop farm with the other items in it all fed by AE.

Great feedback, thanks. I hadn't thought of those !

Ah, sweet. Thanks. This is perfect.[DOUBLEPOST=1379687695][/DOUBLEPOST]

This is great, too. I have MFR farm already and an older Forestry farm I'm not really using anymore. I'll diversify my MFR more and re-purpose my Forestry farm. I hadn't thought of using *different* kinds of saplings. That's a great idea, thanks.

What I normally do is use an emerald upgraded mfr planter and harvester to handle wheat seeds, melon seeds, netherwart, carrots, potatoes, pumpkin seeds, and barley seeds. I also have an non-upgraded harvester, planter, fertilizer setup connected to a composter connected a breeding pen with a sewer that I use for farming oaks for charcoal and the saplings go into the bioreactor as an otherwise useless byproduct. I use ic2 crops to plant the netherwart, melons and pumpkins and force pipes with crafting cards to convert melon slices and pumpkins into seeds on their way out of the harvester, but any autocrafting will do.

I don't think Forestry saplings work and iirc the farm automatically converts vanilla saplings into forestry equivalent. It will be fine for crops though.

Edit: Typos

the best way to keep it stocked with a selected number of items is the supplier logistics pipe, there also a way to let your logistics system communicate with applied energistics and request items to the system to send: the supplier logistics pipe by default ( can be changed of course ) won't store any item unless all the items requested are available

You don't need to do any of that if you use AE, simply attach a precision AND basic export BUSs to the bio reactor and it will stock it with a stack of each.

Cos you need to input 9 items and AE BUS has 8 slots so add a basic one to get the 9.

Yes, but there are 4 vanilla saplings. Add 5 MFR crops (or the seeds of those crops) and that should make 9.

It was just an FYI. It is a good idea to use the four vanilla saplings but if you were farming them with Forestry when you start yielding saplings it might not work which could be annoying for you. If you do it by MFR though that would be fine.

Aye - very good info and a nice add to this post :)

Another easy way to get lots of stuff for the Bio reactor is with Valiant bees. I don't know how many bees you would need to keep up with the reactor's demand but their combs are a great source of cocoa beans.

I use a single Planter, Harvester, and Fertilizer each with a +3 upgrade. Which makes each square 9x9. With the Planter's internal filter that makes nine 3x3 squares. Perfect for a Reactor.

Two Composters will easily run the Fertilizer. I'm working on a method without the fertilizer though I haven't worked it out. And no, I don't use a squid.

As for which materials it varies. With fertilizer I mostly need only a couple squares of each 3x3 producing, except for wheat which takes the whole 3x3. Mushrooms produce LOTS, though they require fertilizer to work, and only need one square each. I only need two squares of netherwart. Three or four for carrots and potatoes. Four (one jungle wood in the center) for cocoa beans. And one for any trees, though Natura's cherry and ghostwood produce the most saplings. I haven't tried this without fertilizer yet.

With an AE network I usually end up with a huge surplus of everything except wheat seeds.

If you want to try breeding them IC2 crops work with MFR Harvesters, though you need the correct plants.

There is also the option of isolating it to your liking via enderchest. Fill the enderchest with anything that cooks and use a translocator to endlessly drop things into the bioreactor. Bonus is this also automatically corrects itself if you run out of something from time to time. :)

*raises hand*

I've got three Forestry Multifarms, fed fertilizer crafted from MFR fertilizer made from a composter fed by sewers. The Multifarms plant netherwart, wheat, barley, cocoa, pumpkin, melon, carrot, potato, and cotton, which are sorted by an AE system via storage buses into a vertical wall of DSUs. The ME system also handles crafting pumpkins and melons into seeds, as well as the fertilizer. Transfer nodes pull from the wall directly into bioreactors, and I've got a ranched squid and a sapling feed from my tree farm solely as backups in case I should run out of one of the consumables when I'm not on the server.

A single MFR Biogenerator runs the entire set up locally; AE system, multifarms, composters and all (I dislike having critical systems depend on a boiler).
