Yeah. What got me into anime is a friend of mine on a roleplaying forum told me to watch Soul Eater. Then I watched SAO, then Fairy Tail.
I could go infinitely farther if I wanted to but yeah, I'm pretty sure that's far enough

I would say claymore but it caught up with its source material and had to make its own ending.
If you don't mine reading however i would definitely recommend reading claymore.
