I recently started tinkering with Applied Energistics, and I have a pretty (I think) straightforward setup.

ME controller, ME drive with three storage cells (64k, 4k, 1k), ME access terminal, and an import bus hooked up to an ender chest.

So I happily pumped tons of stuff into the AE network, ooh-ing and aah-ing appropriately. This was a few days ago btw.

Today I came over to grab a diamond (I had a couple dozen) and there's only one in there. Same with my gold ore, of which I had a large amount, but has been reduced to a single ore. Same for a few other items, but not everything. In fact most things are there, just certain items seem to have come "unstacked".

Anyone have the same experience? Or any suggestions on how to avoid this in the future? I'm wondering if the differing storage cell sizes has to do with it, or some sorting/ordering bug or... who knows.

Has your system enough power? If there isn't, then you can't access your drives etc fully.

Are you on a server? (I.e. could someone have taken your stuff?)

Tons of power, I have full access to everything. It's SSP, so nobody else to take my stuff. :)
And no, I didn't misplace/forget putting my diamonds elsewhere. :)

Several versions ago I had a funny AE glitch. I put one stack of smooth stone in it. The next day I noticed I had 6400. It does make me worry a little bit about putting everything I own in it.

Odd! The only other thing I can think of is that your storage was full and it deleted the extra stuff (but I don't know whether that's how it behaves).

You don't have any export buses or interfaces outputting things anywhere that might be misconfigured, do you?

This gets me worried. I was about to tear down my router-barrel storage and replace it with AE-stuff. But maybe not if this kind of stuff happens. And i dont want stuff to dupe either

I already tore down my barrels, it's why I'm so interested in finding out what happened. For the record my system doesn't appear to have lost anything at all. So far...

Nope, I was using the AE network to move from one base to another, and it's only one-way... going in. Nothing coming out. I'm not filtering anything. I toggled through all the different sort/view options on the AE access terminal. I have no auto crafting set up connected to this. I did not manually/accidentally/automatically or in any way remove every single diamond except for 1.

I should point out this also happened to a stack of zinc dust, a stack of platinum dust, some copper, and probably some other stuff that I haven't noticed yet. It reduced the stacks to a size of 1.

Did you check your enderchest? If you were dumping things into an enderchest connected to the network via Storage Bus, you weren't actually putting those things on your ME storage drives.

Noticed any dupes?

I had a dupe last night actually (using the current ultimate pack). Though I'm not 100% sure what caused it but I have a feeling the mod itself isn't wholly at fault. The server we are on tends to get some nasty lag spikes from time to time and one of these happened while I was trying to remove a drive from a formatter (I dont remember the exact name of the block but the one where you can restrict which items will go on a disk). I would click and the drive would disappear from the formatter and appear in my inventory but when I went over to the drive it was no longer in my inventory. a quick look in the formatter and the disk was still there. I had gotten frustrated with a couple issues caused by the lag and logged off to take a bit of a break. When I logged back on the disk was in my inventory and also in the formatter. Plugging them both into my drive showed that I had double the amount of every item stored on that disk. I destroyed one of the disks of course.

As I said this might just be a problem caused by my horrible server and not the mod itself but I cant be sure one way or the other.

Yes, the enderchest is still there, and there are a couple of things still in there (since the ME storage was full). The import bus successfully pulled tons of stuff in from that ender chest, into the storage drive. I have left it connected the whole time. Once in a while, I'd go to the AE access terminal and pull out one thing or another, and stuff would pop from the ender chest into the AE storage (as you would expect... space gets freed up, so it pulls in another stack). Everything "works". It just seems that the oldest items I put in (I'm viewing it now using "Sort by Priority/Cell Order") have been reduced to a stack size of 1. Those oldest items are the ones that go in the 1k storage cell.

I have had a few crashes, none that were related to AE (as far as I could tell).

What is loading your enderchest?

I havn't tested AE yet, but tubes and BC pipes don't trigger a save of the enderchest content on pumping items in. So you can pump items into an enderchest and in SSP save/exit and any changes to the enderchest will have been lost.

I was manually filling it using an ender pouch and/or right clicking on it with Forestry backpacks, to dump the contents into it.

I'm pretty sure everything successfully transferred from the ender storage to AE. It was only subsequently (and I mean after several days, real-time, not minecraft days) that the stacks were reduced to size 1.

Have you tried pulling that diamond out to see if it pulls out the correct number? First thing I would do.
