Is this Greg's doing?

Just tried to wire up 3 advanced machines (rotary macerator, singularity compressor and centrifuge extractor), each with 2 transformer upgrades, using glass fibre cable from a series of mfsu's and even before they touched (1 block gap) they went boom!

Glass fibre can't carry more than 512eu/t anyway and with the transformer upgrades the machines take that so anyone know what is going on?

I just checked on my other server and I have this exact setup working fine with no boom! I am confused...

Solution: Thanks to Mash mentioning greg fires I worked out it was because my processing area was open to the sky.

Hmm. That's weird.

Well, unless Greg added some strange new mechanic that allows EU to travel short distances without any cable at all, the voltage shouldn't have caused it.

You're sure they weren't on fire or anything? If not, then I'll be confused right there with ya.

Hmm, the only thing different is I don't have a roof on the area just yet, that's what causes greg fires I think. I'll cover it up and try again, thanks:)

Oh, yeah. Don't they blow up when they're exposed to direct sunlight?

I always have bases underground, so I've never had the displeasure of finding out. What a weird coincidence that they would happen to explode exactly as you were connecting the wires.

I reckon that's it yeah, I normally have my areas enclosed but was leaving this as I'm planning to make a solar panel roof at some point. I've enclosed it and am about to try again :)

Another greg observation while I'm here... it seems that greg wants industrial diamonds for the diamond grinders (for industrial grinder) in the version included with ultimate 1.1.0 so I need an implosion compressor before I can make a grinder, motherf....

Wait... so you NEED industrial diamonds as opposed to just normal diamonds?

I'm all for what GT does, but there has to be a line somewhere, and we're rapidly approaching it for me.

It certainly seems so, I've tried in different crafting tables but steel plates, diamond dust and normal diamonds isn't doing it and industrial diamond is shown on nei (I always thought they were totally interchangeable but can only guess greg has tampered). Looks like I'm making an implosion compressor first.... I had planned ot make one anyway because iridium but grr!

In other news, the machines didn't explode, yay, thanks again :)

Yeah, I suppose it's actually not too bad for me. The only thing I even use a grinder for is Iridium, which I'll need an implosion compressor for anyways. Still mildly annoying.

And yeah, no problem. Glad to have helped.

You can turn industrial diamonds into diamonds but not vice versa.

You can make an industrial blast furnace first instead of the implosion compressor and make wolframium grinder blades instead, but that involves a lot more steps since you would have to upgrade to advance casings and/or add kanthal and nichrome coils which costs chrome.

I made enough diamond blades just for the first one, after that I just used the wolframium blades.

Really? I left my IG, IB, IS, and IC without a roof for days now and they are still intact. Lost count of how many times it rained.

you can turn a stack of coal into industrial diamond, you know..

According to nei the only way to get industrial diamond is through the implosion compressor, I've had to log out now but I'm going to take a guess that the coal method produces normal diamonds in my version.

Doesn't the forge lexicon allow you to convert between all items with the same ore-dict name?
Aren't industrial diamonds ore-dict'ed as diamonds, so throwing any diamonds in should result in a choice to convert to industrial?

It bans some conversions (like nuggets). So I doubt it works for diamonds. Correct me if I'm wrong.
