It has changed a lot since then, I'm not saying you would enjoy it, but personally I think it's worth at least one more look.

I doubt it. Most people that do not like the mod do not like it for the basis of the mod, namely:

1) Modifying other mods to suit his ideal gameplay
and
2) Making the game into tedium and/or "challenge". While that may be something some enjoy not all do.

Yeah GT really needs to have some of the default hardmode stuff turned off for FTB, Just for these mod packs though. I know you can change them yourself but they are really annoying.
For example; Making it so metal blocks are crafted the proper way, you need to find the config option that allows you to make the block in the craft bench. Then you have to find the option to be able to do the reverse. On top of this you need to do it for all the storage blocks individually. Major PITA...

Which I think sums up GregTech aptly -pain in the ass-

And yes the config is that annoying, you will see server owners using hard mode stuff only becasue they do not know how to change it but still play FTB. It would be lulzy if it wasn't so annoying.
Most resort to using TE which actually becomes viable when GT is set to hard mode.
By the time you have enough materials to start putting in block form you should have a compressor, I don't see what the big deal is... Machine block, circuit and stone... Not that hard

I respect your desire to make your game an absurb grinding process and unnecessary hurdle, you might enjoy your game this way and please take note that most players dislike this type of game and it is their right to request GTech add-on to be non-intrusive add-on both for it's parent mod and other mods.

Most of the Minecraft players, play it in order to take the edge off, not to jump between machines and grind like there is no tomorrow.

Current settings of GTech add-on is locking most of the FTB players out of the servers, some are sticking with Direwolf20 pack and some are just removing GTech add-on from their single player games and staying away from servers. All these hurdle could be solved with only one line in config files to turn on-off mod interaction and keeping interaction off by default.

In order to clarify things, please do not tell me that GTech add-on has configuration for interaction; only 1 out of 100 will go through such a tedious task and default on causes many server admins to follow it unwillingly.

I do hope, FTB Mod Pack steam will change the pack to a GTech interaction off config, I have little to no hope that Gregor himself would see the bigger picture and fix the mistake he has made or at least add an interaction on/off switch for all options.

In the end, I respect your gaming tastes and request the same for the more casual majority that is playing Minecraft with and without FTB packs.

It is actually that hard... Well harder in comparison at least.

When I first wanted to make iron blocks I was like "what gives... how come I can't make iron blocks?!" then it took me a while to figure it out and I was like "Neuman... >_< " Umm I mean "Greg... >_<" and I found that his mod meddled with simple aspects of the game that even for difficulties sake did not need to be meddled with. That, right there is the beef with GregTech, when added to a modpack like FTB it throws the casual/ softcore minded people off and in a server environment it's hard to avoid. Some people would like to avoid it but it get hard when it's thrown in to every mod pack.
Of course, I like the fact you CAN use a compressor to make an automated metal storage system but having it be the only way is changing the standard method for little to no real increase in challenge. How is making storage blocks hard to make considered anything more then an annoyance.
This would be no problem if it was easily disabled, but it's not...

GregTech is a good mod, I like how it elaborates on the reactor system and it even provide a few resource short cuts. But It fucks with too much for the sake of "balance". I mean with the block thing, I would accept having to compress GregTech metals but vanilla iron?? Overstepping that line there a bit...
But in the end it's not Greg's fault he made a mod that was designed to be used with IC2 alone and for people who like this sort of masochism. He probably doesn't balance the mod around the knowledge that it will be mixed with other mods in a pack and foisted on to casual minded players and he shouldn't have to.

I don't know who made the default MindCrack pack config files, but I will agree that it definitely needs some improvement. MindCrack is supposed to be hardmode, but they neglected to turn the TE hard mode on, making that a much more viable starting option, and there are quite a lot of parts of the configs that, to people not looking for those options on (such as myself, I like playing with everything on hardest difficulty except for the stack size changes, thank god those weren't defaulted on or more even people would not like GregTech), seem like pointless changes that truly don't add much in terms of difficulty. That being said, we are way off-topic in this thread, it was originally about how to add a mod to the Direwolf pack, and it has turned into yet another pointless GregTech debate.

Mistake!?!?! There was no mistake... He simply created one of the best things known to man. And if server owners are going to pay X amount of money for a server and not research what's going on there then they Are pretty dumb... Not gonna lie... And it's not tedious, Greg has made it as simple as possible and people are still whining.{removed name-calling}[DOUBLEPOST=1362807140][/DOUBLEPOST]

It's definitely something more than annoyance, it's the saving of a million clicks for someone who doesn't know about the project table

report rule breaking don't quote it

That is okay mate, although I can not relate to your fanaticism, I do understand that you do love GTech add-on to a degree that it became your identity therefore any criticism toward it means a criticism to your own personality then again I am not okay with you calling more casual players "sissies" that is downright rude.

Although it is okay to declare your unconditional love to anything, it is not okay to call names in defense of it.

Exactly, spot on Xeonen. I personally don't like the mod. I play FTB and Minecraft after 10-12 hours of work, I like coming home to relax to an enjoyable game that lets me unwind. I find Gregtech spoils a lot of that for me, I hardly would call myself a "sissy". This is why I play the DW20 pack. Direwolf chose not to put it in, and I play his pack. The fact that other people love the mod doesn't make me think any less of those people, it's just what they like. I also have nothing against Greg, he seems like an excellent modder. I just am not a fan of his mod, it's my opinion. However, I DO think less of people who have decided to insult and judge people over their choice in what they want for a GAME, This is a GAME, this is meant for people to enjoy with themselves and with their friends. When you start insulting people, who you don't know personally, over their views of something so trivial, so unimportant in the grand scheme of things it may be time to reconsider your priorities in life. I applaud Xeonen for putting it as, "I can not relate to your fanaticism", and at the heart of it that's exactly what it is. I also applaud those who do want to put Gregtech in the DW20 pack, but have stated it with politeness and respect. I don't agree with them on this one small issue, but the respect for players like me that they have shown has made me open my mind to their opinions.

Guys, please stop the arguing! we already have too many threads that have gone from being all innocent to a complete war about GregTech.

I swear one day there will be a forum section called GregTech Debates...

I think that was the point a few of us were trying to make.

Debating about one thing can be positive as well, without such debates opinion of the more casual players in other words the bulk of the players will not be heard. I am hoping that such debates will create a public awareness of the situation and may lead to at least an official poll to resolve the issue at hand.

Your name kinda invalidates anything you say. You have an extreme and well know bias towards anything GT. You're right and everyone else is wrong or below you in mental stature.

I love how people have commented for like a page about how I'm not understanding and how much I can't be willing to see other people's points of views and yet you guys trash talk me telling me I'm biased and how judgemental I am... QUITE hypocritical

You called us "sissies", man. If that isn't judgmental, I am a gnu named Philip. And your name doesn't exactly lend well to us assuming that you don't have a bias, it's kind of like signing onto a Vegan support group blog with the name, "IEATFOURTEENHAMBURGERSADAY19"

Whatever... Clearly we can't see each others points of view and I'm tired of fighting against people who won't agree with me, plus the thread owners notifications are probably blowing up...

There's the premise of the problem. GregTech is not a universally good mod and you refuse to accept that fact. Quite simply people have different tastes in what they choose to do. Hell there are vanilla fanatics of your caliber that would say using ANY mod makes you a sissy. It is no different from what you're doing now.

do not quote rule breakers.

My posts must have been mighty "offensive" to warrant such a response

And I commend you on being able to distinguish my gender through text.

No quoting trolls

Did you even read, much less comprehend, what he said? Bias means you lean more toward one side because of a predisposition towards something. Because his name is ilovegregtech it makes his opinion on the mod virtually useless. He is beyond the point of seeing the flaws in the mod or realizing that other people may not enjoy the mod because it does not suit their gameplay. He instead refers to anyone that dislikes GT as a sissy. Such further makes his opinion worthless.

I mean no offense by this but if you are so young that you cannot fully understand a conversation do not attempt to enter it.
