A delicate question(BTW related)

Hello!

As this is apparently a delicate subject in the modded minecraft community I have to be very clear with my next words. This is what I know so far about Better Than Wolves: FlowerChild did not like the direction Forge was taking and he considered it was restricting for the code he wanted to do so eventually he decided to go separate ways. There was talk about heated discussions and stuff within the forge team but I just want to believe that the man wanted to go another way. There is no harm in that.
This was about half a year back and I haven't heard of BTW since then.

My question to you: Why this sudden interest in the BTW universe? All of a sudden Florastar and Slowpoke are doing an LP with it, I see people from that universe all the time on TS and the streams.
Does this mean a comeback to Forge? Does this mean BTW will be included with the FTB Launcher?
Or was it a simple conversation like:
"FC: - Hey Slow! This is FlowerChild. My mod has gotten pretty far, I'm almost pleased with the current state it's in and I have an awesome community playing it. Would you like to give it a try? I'll put you in contact with some capable people."
"SP: - Hey FlowerChild! Nice hearing from you man! That sounds nice!"

Apparently this subject has sparked some heated discussions lately and I apologize beforehand but I have not participated in those discussions and I would very much like to be brought up to speed.

well, for having played BTW before it went out of Forge, I can say it IS an awesome mod.

I mean, even only the windmill is great, a moving machine, compared to the block of IC2...

The only thing preventing it to become even bigger than most other mods is the direction FlowerChild took, making it a mod that nearly have no compatibility (heck, not even Optifine).

I would really love it to come back to forge to a certain extend, to make a compatibility version of sorts, it would really bring us a great mod, and a new community to him.

That said, I am not ready to throw red power in order to play any other mod, so as long as he wishes for his community to live in seclusion, I won't put my hands on it, no matter how great it becomes.

As a YouTuber I embrace any new possibility of entertaining my audience but the idea of this topic is not whether i'll play or not BTW. My question was: Why this sudden interest in the BTW universe?

Well, it is safe to assume that he didn't pick the two from forestry for nothing.

I do hope it is either to make the mod known outside of the community itself, or that he has some plans to make it more accessible in terms of compatibility (unlikely, but why not).

Either way, it gave back some life to a channel that was pretty much dead for some weeks, and something a little different to watch, which is never a bad thing.

Cilantro has quite a large following on twitch so his decision to LP that has probably brought lots of interest

Whilst there was a possibility of there being a BTW themed FTB map, that has now faded somewhat. As things stand there is no reasonable chance of seeing BTW return to Forge, however that does not mean the communities need to be split. My own interest in BTW started a few weeks ago, I gave the mod a try with a few people and enjoyed it. The reasoning behind the BTW video's as far as I am concerned is down to the fact that I personally believe that where FTB is concerned, we are in the business of promoting mods. It is not our place to get involved in the politics of any given situation or to take sides in public. The fact that a couple of members of the BTW community have joined us is totally coincidental in timing (I understand they found their way to us via Pahimars streams.) They are however completely welcome to join us as is anyone else as long as they act is a reasonable manner.

Well said Slow. I am happy to see that your direction with this pack is the same as ever and that we are more about promoting Minecraft and it's mods and being a community than just a FTB support group!

I foresee many new friends joining us, not all of which will actually be here for the FTB map.

Here is some reasons BTW is quite popular atm:
  • It recently updated and got ported to 1.3.2, adds some nice features i must say.
  • Some of the tech mods are not quite ready for 1.3.2, or got some bugs. While BTW works fine.
  • Florastar and Slowpoke is doing a let's play with Jadedcat and Morvelira, which is quite popular in the BTW community.
Because of the let's play, i saw some of the really cool changes, so i want on a BTW server.

Perhaps the Forge team and Flowerchild could collaborate (Although there is a snow ball's chance in hell with that) and change forge and BTW to have the best coding features of Forge and the mechanics of BTW
