As you know, texturing takes a lot of time to get right, it's got to the point that I don't really play Minecraft anymore (apart from for testing textures) which is just not fun and I like fun.

I just don't have the time to be the organizer this massive project deserves, I'm going to carry on with the Legacy packs as they are just more manageable but I think I'll be stepping down for the JSTR.

I may make textures for the JSTR in the future but time is just not there at the moment.

Totally understandable, sir. Thanks for what you've done so far :D

TBH, I'm in the same spot, though for different reasons. There aren't any modpacks that really fit my playstyle, though UHS3 (currently indev) just might.

---

Side note: early work on Simply Jetpacks (still needs lots of fit/finish)

Firstly, I got a call today that I have to leave state for work for a few months and will be living in what can be compared to a shoebox. As such, can't take my desktop so this is my last contribution for a while at least until I figure out exactly how much space I have in which to try and cram a computer.

So for the mean time, uploaded SJ... though not quite complete. The 4 items used in crafting are untextured, but the jetpacks themselves and the item to represent the jetpack are done. https://github.com/John-Smith-Modded/JSTR-1.6.x <-- that's the new repo (rather, that's where updates have been going)

Also uploaded AE2 (95% of it is done... checked against alpha109) and a couple other bits for 1.7 on a personal repo (some stuff I had committed and some that wasn't committed on the 1.6 branch that were orig built on 1.7, except NEI and most of ironchest as they just happened to be in my "To Merge - 1.7.2" folder): https://github.com/kardain/JSTR-1-7-Unofficial -- feel free to grab those if you want... or not... makes no difference to me :D. Some of these will work on 1.6 as well, just need to check the mod's assets folders.

With AE2, some of the GUI elements have a 3x3 grid that isn't documented as to what they are for, probably autocrafting if/when that comes around. Anything that wasn't textured are in "untextured" folders (example: foo/bar/untextured/... once done, file goes in /foo/bar/). It's like 5 blocks or so and the compass... the blocks just have multiple faces. Also the cable channel lights are in there, optional ofc.

There is also an alternates folder in the blocks folder for AE2. That was the orig quantum ring so if you would rather use that instead, be warned... the 1.7.2 texture bug will affect it which is why it those textures look incomplete because I never really finished it, but it's done enough I guess. A 1.7.2 mod I ran across - LittleFix - will correct the texture flipping (orig written for the bed texture from what I found on MCF, just had a pleasant side effect for that AE2 fix and pretty much every other texture flip issue that came up).

Lastly, have a few odd & ends for 1.6 (about 20 or in total textures from a few different mods, I'll have to check) that I'll upload before I head off...

And yes, for the record, I like ellipses and misplaced parenthetical phrases.

Hey, I'm having an issue (i hope i'm not the only one..) where when i add JSTR to my resource pack's folder in the newest version of Direwolf20, the pack isn't showing in the client, so i can't activate it. I'm using the .zip downloaded from --> https://github.com/John-Smith-Modded/JSTR-1.6.x which i assumed would work, but as you can see in http://i.gyazo.com/caf6e74a897e48590433c396eeec23cc.png, isn't working. I've restarted quite a few times, and to my best attempts, i can't get it to sync with my minecraft. i understand this pack isn't 100% finished but i would love to use it.

When i use http://jstr.jslegacy.com/patcher.htm i get a page that only has a form of ads on it (no patcher or download link), so i assume it's not active anymore. i understand a few people have stepped down, but there's still a few people maintaining this thread from what i can see.

Any help would be appreciated.

Looks like you downloaded the JSTR Master which just contains every texture of each mod supported in separate folders. JimStone who's in charge of the Vanilla pack has two versions of JSTR on his website located here http://www.jimstonecraft.co.uk/johnsmith_technicians_remix.php Personally I would download one of those, JSC version recommended, and pull out the mods found in the Direwolf pack from the Master pack and put it inside the "assets" folder of the JSC version. Do note that on the link he only has six mods completed so you should replace all the other folders from the JSC version with those from the Master. Also in the Master folder you'll see the folders with the titles of the mods, if you click on lets say "Buildcraft" it'll show an "assets" folder and if you click on it again you'll find the actual folder that you need to pull.

I may have just made it really confusing but do hope you understand lol

I was just wondering, has there been any texture support for the mod "Blood Magic" I've been looking all over for a texture support for it, however I've only found one pack that does, but it doesn't exactly fit my flavor. Johnsmith's always had rather nice textures.

Not in the GIT so my guess is no.

Same issue. Resource pack isn't showing. shouldn't it show, and then when i try to activate it, it won't activate? it seems the error might not be with the pack but elsewhere, but i'm not sure.

If you open the Resource Pack you'll see an "assets" folder along with a few other things then within the "assets" folder you'll see a bunch of other folders for each mod. Could you take a screenshot of that?

http://i.gyazo.com/c65ec9f7d83d7e404c51e8c515c19157.png tried twice, manually copying over the individual folders in the assets folder the first time, and the second time taking the command folder over (the one above assets) and neither works being thrown into the JSC folder.

Looks like you have the wrong things in the JSC folder. You have Compact Solars highlighted, if you open it there should be an assets folder and if you open that you'll find a folder called "compactsolars" that's the folder you need.

Goldbattle is in touch with Glow and is working on putting the site back together. At this time, we've forked Glowstrontium's github JS repo (with his blessing) to a community organization:
https://github.com/John-Smith-Modded

I modified a small section of the Soartex compile script to build a pack from the 1.6 JS modded repo. I have rehosted it on Mediafire temporarily while we return downloads:
Download
http://www.mediafire.com/download/7n1r9bfc76tfqb1/John_Smith_Legacy_1.6.4_v1.1.8.zip

If fresh changes are made on Github and you can't wait for me to recompile, I have the script here:
https://gist.github.com/Shoeboxam/fa58f9d94bb1590532e7

I will be porting Buildcraft to 1.7.x in the next few days. If you folks are interested, I will port more of 1.7.x as well- most of it is already compatible.

Me, Gold and Art (Soartex Administrators) would like to keep JS mod support organized and in one piece while JS is in this limbo period. There are a few patches scattered about: if you have authored a patch that is not on the community repo, want them added to the community repo, but would rather not bother with Github, just comment and I can add your work (with credit to you, of course). I'm happy to help anyone with Git btw. ;)

I hope this helps!

Hello! We have been hard at work getting thing setup and running.
The main op will get updated in a few days with new links, but for now see below.

Proud to announce that the new site is finally up! http://js-legacy.net/
You can read about it in a post update here: http://js-legacy.net/blog/05-11-2014/new-site/

And most importantly the main universal packs are on the downloads page.
We will slowly start adding more packs that we see more compatible, but for now the universals should work.
Let us know if you run into any problems with them.

Thank you again!

hey,

at the moment there is only a universal texture pack right? I would like to create a pack for the specific modpacks, that is has only the textures which are needed for the modpack. I'm allowed to host this pack without a adfly link?

The patcher should be back online soon, allowing users to only download textures for the mods that they need, which would on the most part negate the need for custom packs, and ensure users always get the most up to date files.
