Look at the third party modpack section, there are tons of 1.7 modpacks there, including my own set! Just click on '3rd party modpacks', and then 'public packs', and there you go!

As far as recommendations go, well, I can only recommend my own because #shamelessplugs, and that I haven't really tried out any others yet.

sry but cant find enny 1.7 packs... Were is the public packs?

Click on the "3rd Party Packs" tab at the top of the FtB launcher main screen. Also, there's FtB "Unstable" in the regular pack menu which is 1.7, which was set up as a place for mod developers to test their mods in a pack environment.

Yes, InfiTech2 is a great pack if you like long-lasting worlds and like GregTech.

Agreed, so shocking to see one of the first 3rd-Party Packs released for 1.7 has GregTech in it, of all things. :D

However, when you say "long-lasting" you are being kind. It's almost absurd how much time it is taking me to get anywhere, given the ore distribution and the struggle to work your way up to the point where you can power a quarry, for instance. But then again, I'm probably doing a lot wrong and not taking advantage of all the tools available via the different mods. Quite honestly, what I've found is that I cannot live without Thermal Expansion in a modpack, but I guess that's just my own personal opinion and feelings. I love GregTech so much, but it appears GT and TE might not get along very well, if the first two GT modpacks are any indication (InfiTech 2 and BeyondReality in ATLauncher). That saddens me a bit. I miss the TE Tesseract so much, that's really what I've learned in 1.7 so far. :)

I love TE. I think it's one of the best mods in MC. However, in this pack, Ender IO does most of the work of TE and it many ways, it does it better. The item conduits kick ass. You won't need AE2 for automation for a loooong time with eIO item conduits. And, it has its own version of the Tesseract : the Dimensional Transceiver. It can teleport energy, items, and liquids, along with redstone bundles, I believe.

And, you're probably not doing anything wrong to take a long time to get to the quarry. The pack is *designed* to slow things down. Have you found Tin vein yet ? That's a bitch to find. Once you find a vein of tin, copper, and iron, you'll well on your way to the electrical age and some very nice GT machines.

The centrifuge is very cool. Centrifuging lava is a great early/mid-game way to get renewable tin, copper, and gold. Fill up an ExUt 255-barrel drum with lava and you have power *and* stuff to centrifuge.

The pack also has bees and Thaumcraft on it. Thaumcraft has faster/cheaper steel production than GT. Just need a reliable source of Ordo, which is in bee comb wax. But, getting there is not speedy.

This is a pack for the patient that enjoy months-long worlds.

Wow there's a handful of great tips. I did not know about the Dimensional Transceiver! Nor have I taken advantage of centrifuging lava, which IS rather silly of me to have overlooked it... but that's why I love posting here, to get those sort of "obvious" ideas that haven't been so obvious to me.

I bogged down with power production, and had been leaning (out of sheer desperation) towards a full farm with crops and animals, and centrifuging the products to make methane to run in a GregTech Gas Turbine... but I think lava is better in every way.

I've also bogged down with RF generation too, been so focused on GT and EU. Big Reactor seems easy, but almost too easy. I just discovered the Ender IO Capacitor Bank today, to replace the TE Energy Cells, so my dream of a quarry seems closer than I thought it was I guess. I am just really getting sick of mining by hand, the time invested just doesn't seem worth it, I'm talking hours on end... no end.

What worries me about investing so much time (months-long), is that this is still a beta pack (I think) or its early in the development. A lot can still change, any work we do could be nullified somehow.

Yes, mining can be ... time-consuming in this pack. Do you have good tools ? A fully-enchanted Thaumcraft Pickaxe of the Core is a great mining tool. But, if you're not into magic, it won't be your cup of tea.

Are you into bees ? I invested into bees and was producing all the commonly-mined stuff after a month or so (in RL). I'm sure it can be done faster than that, but I took my time and, purified each species along the way, and tried to get the best traits in every production species.

BigReactors is in the pack, yes, but it's been tweaked. You won't be able to generate RF directly from the reactor. You'll have to build a turbine. And, building that stuff requires Tungstensteel, which is pretty far into GregTech and requires a lot of energy.

Oh okay, I'm playing two GT packs at once (BeyondReality and InfiTech 2) and sometimes I get confused. BR modpack is much easier than IT2, there's no hunger mod in it, and BigReactors isn't nerfed, it still just takes steel plates to make Reactor Casing blocks and a basic 3x3x3 reactor works fine. Quite honestly, I've progressed my BR world much much farther than my IT2 world simply because IT2 is a much more difficult modpack. I'm not necessarily against "difficult", it's the time investment involved that's the sticking point.

I've done bees too many times to count. And I'm not talking a few bees, I'm talking the entire bee tree, from Meadow to Quantum. By hand too, manually, with no Gendustry cheating. LOL I've done it multiple times, and this is one of the problems with Minecraft modpacks... once you've done a big mod like Forestry/Binnie bees 3 or 4 times... doing it another time just seems like a nightmare that you can't wake up from. LOL

Yeah, that's why the BR recipes are nerfed in InfiTech2 : to make it fit with the longer progression model of the pack. IT2 is centered around GT 5, with the intent of all other mods not overshadowing/surpassing GT 5, but rather complimenting it. It wouldn't do the pack any good if there was a clearly an easier/faster way to do something that GT 5 did. GregTech doesn't do everything, of course, so that's where all the other mods come in.
