Slow down and enjoy yourself - Life is not a race!​

Packcode: slowdown​

This pack is made for the ones who play Minecraft a little "slower" than others and like to do things differently and maybe in two or three unusual ways.
Doing things slowly and enjoying it.
Here efficiency is not (always) key, but the fun achieving results in a different way.

The pack is based on the FTB Horizons: Daybreaker mod pack but it tries to change the dynamics by removing overpowered mods and/or changing the way of progression.

It also contains some less popular, but fun to play mods.
And yes, you can play the pack "fast" as well - it contains some late game mods of course - but it will be less fun I assume.

This is the first pack I created - at first just for myself, but after realizing that others may like the way how I play Minecraft, I decided to make it public.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Please note that the pack is still under development, meaning that I'm still balancing it while I play - so expect some changes to it.
And if everything breaks horribly - be gentle - and report a bug here in the forum.

Hints:
  • use "Realistic Alpha" as world type to get the most amazing results for your new world!
  • use a minimum on 2.5GB RAM - 4GB if possible
  • if Forestry backpacks refuse to pick up items, delete the following config and it should get recreated with defaults: <your_slowdown_modpack_installation_folder>/minecraft/config/forestry/backpacks.cfg

Planned features & changes:
- "Quest / Tutorial" mode, providing a walkthrough to many mods of the pack for beginners. Already existing quest lines are: Iron backpacks, StorageDrawers and Malisis Doors. Please mind that the quests are in an alpha state and will be revised in the next versions.
- Server files still to come

Known Issues in the latest pack version:
- Creative mode crashes when using search - seems like Sanguimancy is causing that. under investigation
- I saw some crashreports related to forestry and the quest book recently popping up. I'll investigate what happens there.

This pack contains Fastcraft, by Player, enabled by default. Fastcraft enhances Minecraft with increased performance. Bug reports being made directly to Mod Authors should state Fastcraft is enabled.

Currently no. I'm creating them while I play. And it should be more like a tutorial kind of quest line than a challenge. Just to show how different mods can be used and how you can do things differently.

Gonna give this pack a try, am a very slow player, well that is want to do lots of stuff but can hangout for hours micromanaging the production lines and improving everything. Don't like to fight monsters and such and I don't like to play in peaceful mode but that's only because they removed hunger from that and why would you have the perfect crops if you can't eat them I hope that you will have server files available in the future and some sort of quest line, but can't give you ideas about that other than looking at other packs that try to help you learn certain mods for instance BeeHappy.

Great to hear that you want to try my pack! :) That means a lot to me!
Let me know what you think once you played it a little ...
I'm working on the quest line now, introducing most of the mods in the pack and getting started with them.
Expect some update soon with a first quest lines for 3-4 mods.
Server files will be created as well for sure. Just wanted to have the pack a little more stable!

There are a couple of mods out there that provide the hunger aspect in peaceful. Harder Peaceful is one, not sure if available for this version of Minecraft.

For my pack I actually decided to not include any of the hunger aspect mods - but considering peaceful mode that could be an option - I always found them a little annoying while doing survival.

OK, about peaceful mode, it's not that I don't fight any mobs or whatever, I just complained a little that in peaceful mode you don't get any hunger and since I like farming in minecraft I stay out of peaceful mode, except sometimes in the beginning when I start a new game in single player mode, but that's only because I don't like fighting baddies at all, but on my server I never have peaceful mode on.
I played with hunger mods before, and to be honest I didn't like them it became more of a hassle even than fighting monsters, and to me mods should make things easier on minecraft instead of harder, but that's just an opinion from a much older guy(45) than the average minecraft player, my philosophy is I play games for fun and I don't need to have an adrenalin rush anymore, which I definately get when a creeper creeps up to me again.

Edit: I crashed twice allready, the second time was entirely my fault and probably has to do with optifine, which I will remove, the first time I crashed on creating a flag, I probably pushed buttons too fast and minecraft just hang for a bit and then shut down. I don't know what mod the flag is from, and when I am in a new world I want to do other stuff first during the daytime, so is it possible to do this flag creation at a later stage?

Optifine should not be an issue - I'm using it myself - could you put your crashlogs to pastebin so that I can check?
The flag creation can be skipped by pressing ESC
Regarding the hunger thing I now better understand what you mean - actually there are a couple of items in the pack that keep mobs at bay also at an early stage. And once you feel like it you can fight them :)

Ah and by the way - I'm 41 years old myself - and not rushing things is exactly the reasons for creating the pack!

You play very similar to the way I do and btw even older player here (55). Minecraft is just a game that I enjoy fooling around with. Even my 9 yr old grandson has started to play the vanilla version, so I brought him the PS3 version as he doesn't have a PC.

Awesome :) I really hope that you guys enjoy the pack I created - it means a lot to me - I found that there are not too many people that play the way I do so it's great to hear that there actually are more than I thought :D

Ok that one is really related to Galacticraft (that's the space race flag thingy) - I'll check whether I can reproduce it somehow.
If you experience any other issues just let me know here and I'll check.

Yeah I gave my niece a copy of minecraft, she was 9 years old at that time, didn't play that much until she got 13 years old, now she is 14 and hit puberty, so I don't know if she actually plays now, she doesn't talk that much to me at the moment. It's nice to see kids play though.

Yeah I thought it was, wanted to choose another color, so I started pressing things and then minecraft hang. Can I make the flag at a later time?
