I run a server and I've been holding off on the 1.2.0 update until today. I just wanted to make sure everyone was out of the Aether. When I installed the update on the my server and ran it, it gets stuck looking for blocks from the Aether. Any ideas for a fix for this?

About the Twilight Forest and how to balance it and keep it useful.
I have no idea how much you are able to alter, Drastic, but I'm just going to pop some ideas hopefully to inspire you.

In my opinion flight should be pretty end game content used for killing the dragon, exploring the End and for plain convenience in moving around.
So to obtain flight, from any mod, one would need an item that is only dropped by the ur-ghast. It is used in the recipe to create said flight item or spell and has a 100 percent drop chance.
Reasoning: the Ur-ghast difficulty decreases the most with flight imo. It will prevent players from flying up the tower and killing it with no effort because the ghast can't damage players when they're flying. And because of the progression in the Forest it makes sure people can't use flight at the naga, lich, minoshroom, hydra and knight phantom. Most of them don't suffer that hard from flight, but the lich and the hydra do.

I haven't played much with the yeti and the snow queen but I think the snow queen has the same problem as the ur ghast. Maybe make the snow queen drop said item. You can do it with every notable piece of equipment one can get.
Like a fiery blood to create a soul forge for bound armour, this even makes a bit of sense since its blood magic and one would need extreme powerful blood for such a powerful set of armour.

The real challenge is to keep players in the overworld for a bit and allow them to build a base in the safe Twilight once they at least have beaten most of the bosses. You don't want people to find a twilight portal early game and cheese through the early stages of the pack.

Also, please don't ever remove the Twilight Forest. It has got the best trees of all available mods and generally a magic-esque feeling to it, even more than a magical forest from thaumcraft...

Being able to even get to the twilight is cheesing.... The best way IMO is to intergrate the twilight into the overworld.... If you want a taintless world go to the nether or the end :3...... Also if you didnt notice, the twilight is meant to be a copy of the overworld, which means you wouldnt have to go back to the overworld since all the resources you need in the overworld is available in denser fashion in the twilight =/

Yeah I don't like how unbalanced twilight forest is on its own, let alone in a challenging mod pack like this. Perhaps make the portal buildable, but only after dropping in an expensive item instead of just a diamond. Like something from Blood Magic or TTKami. Make it a mid/late game dimension rather than a "find Twilight portal asap and live there" cheese strategy.

It certainly is cool, but the most important part of the twilight is missing, robust oaks and the magic saplings. I guess you could make the bosses drop them. Maybe just decrease the ore density a lot, even no ores would do, and get rid of the hollow hills and put the loot from the hills (like the uncrafting table) in other dungeons.
The forest could be a place for battling bosses and gathering basic plantlife like tarma roots and botania flowers. Then if one wanted to get to the next tier in a magic mod they have to beat at least a certain boss. It doesn't have to be a new item, you can just make the only way to obtain a certain wand of thaumcraft is to kill a boss and get it as drop.
Apart from all that I still think the twilight should have a lot less ores or none at all and one should be unable to get massive food supplies from critters and flora.

Just a thought, not entirely sure if this is possible, but maybe have the mobs in twilight all buffed. Kinda like a combination of the deep dark mobs with like the dimension specificness to difficulty from apocalypse. This way you won't want to go to the twilight unless its necessary.

Hello! I am so happy to see such a well tailored magic modpack. After playng a few days I took refuge in the TwForest cause even walled villages aren't safe. My issue was the taint harm while running around exploring. Though I will sure return when I get a decent armor, is there a way to even more reduce taint growth rate? What value would you suggest to set in the configs?

It doesn't have to be a new item, you can just make the only way to obtain a certain wand of thaumcraft is to kill a boss and get it as drop.
Apart from all that I still think the twilight should have a lot less ores or none at all and one should be unable to get massive food supplies from critters and flora.
The only config that the twilight forest has, is some sound configs, and configs to disable the portal...

It might be possible to use the ruins mod to create custom trees though.

Or in that forest temple place with the dryad spawners, you can have Remains of the Old World AkA a loot chest with random agricultural doodads in it like twilight forest saplings.

Also just turning all twilight bosses to be 100% infernal might balance it out :p...

Being able to even get to the twilight is cheesing.... The best way IMO is to intergrate the twilight into the overworld.... If you want a taintless world go to the nether or the end :3...... Also if you didnt notice, the twilight is meant to be a copy of the overworld, which means you wouldnt have to go back to the overworld since all the resources you need in the overworld is available in denser fashion in the twilight =/
Agreed. The Nether and the End don't have all the resources of the overworld, plus they can be rather hostile. Especially the Nether. Trading one hell for another.

Figure I might as well weigh in on the issue of the TF. With ACE you can have items run a command on right click - including the /testruin command. As such, what you could do would be remove your twilight portal structure from worldgen, but add an item that spawns the portal when used, while still replacing the normal method of portal creation. This item could then be obtainable however you wanted, whether you wanted it to be a quest reward, dungeon loot, mob drop etc.

I've had no issues with this modpack until now. One of the quests is to kill the ender dragon. However, upon killing the dragon the quest book didn't register it and now I have no dragon to kill... Help...

You can use /hqm edit to force complete it.
