Hello, fellow Thaumaturges.

Let me explain why you're looking at this compendium... There exists in the already vast, enigmatic universe of Thaumcraft those that push the boundaries of research beyond the restrictions and constraints of the thaumonomicon as we know it. Those intrepid researchers endeavor to search every corner and crevice of the magical world and even apply their findings to that which wouldn't normally become a vessel for such wondrous potential. Some apply it to our buzzing insect friends, some even apply it to the rails that guide our carts and trains. It is those which we gather and record their entries for other aspiring thaumaturges to draw inspiration from.

Who knows. It may be them who expand this very compendium too.

While Magic Frames are useful, they are a tad fragile. This essence takes the enchantments you wave into Magic Frames to an entirely new level. Combine the essence with a magic frame, and it should leave a vastly extended lifespan.

Description:
Time is a fickle thing. It comes and goes, but where exactly does it go to? As a respectable thaumaturge, it has to become possible to trap these wasted moments and save them in a magical form. So, now that it is possible to collect extra time from the world, it seems only appropriate that they are used in a place that would be useful. It would be too dangerous to attempt to access these moments yourself for the moment, but perhaps it would be simple to allow your bees access to this untapped lump of time.
By combining the essence with a Magic Frame as usual will suffice to extend the lifespan of bees in your keeping by several times.

While it may appear similar to the Portable Hole, it serves as a two-way link to another place, which is... probably uninhabited. It should be possible to utilize these singularities to store materials outside of your dimensional understanding - which of course means that they won't clutter up your inventory. As they are now, they are not particularly useful, but there should be ways to unlock their potential.

Description:
Breeding bees for mutations can be aggrivating, especially whith long-lived species. With a little cleverness and only the slightest hint of smugness, you have found a way to utilize the Dimensional Singularity in a manner that only sucks away the life force of your tiny flying friends, but by bit. Well maybe significant amounts all at once. It's probably not going to affect them too badly.
It may be somewhat tricky to obtain more than one of the Dragon Eggs nessecary to obtain more than one of these. Perhaps there is a bee species that can assist with the limitation.

After intently studying and experimenting with the relationship between vis and essentia, you have deduced a method to change the very nature of aura nodes. Simply place the required essentia nearby, then place the required essences on nearby pedestals. Finallt take a jarred node on the modifier and right click the modifier to open the GUI. Essentia and essence types can be viewed by selecting an operation.

Pedestal placement must be within 4 blocks, but is not required to be symmetrical like the infusion altar pedestals. An example setup is provided on the Mystical Construct Page.

Description:
This pipe cannot be used as a normal BuildCraft pipe, it will not transport items, fluids or energy. It does not transport anything as a matter of fact. But its uses are plenty!
This pipe connects only to aspect containers. It cannot pull the aspects out, but it allows you to measure them using gates. If the container has more than one aspect, the pipe will measure the most abundant one. Or, you can force the pipe to measure a specific aspect by setting a filter. Playing any aspect container items on the filter will force the pipe to measure only the aspect present in that item and ignore all others.

Your study into The End has allowed you a way to modify a beacon to allow it to transpose buffs onto you no matter where you are in the same dimension but at a cost. However you have noted that you are unabled to control it's power directly. The beacon taps straight into the heart of The End, pulling at it's power, corrupting your soul.

Corruption
A nasty side effect of using the beacons power, Corruption eats away at your soul which is bound in the beacon. It's effects are mostly unknown as the people who have suffered from it have mysteriously dissappeared however in the time they were still around, they have reported being hunted by slender figures and often suffered from dizziness and temporary blindness. No wards or potions can cure or prevent it as the soul itself was effected.

Further study of the beacon and it's effects has allowed to find a way to "throttle" the effects of the beacon. By placing pylons in the bottom corners of beacon pyramid and stacking them then inserting a crystal into the port, it throttles how much power is allowed through the beacon. Every crystal is different meaning some are more effective at throttling certain effects than others. Crystals don't last forever however and need to be replaced every few days.[/CENTER]

The system is not perfect, and the supplied books are destroyed in the process.
This 'think tank' has very particular placement requirements. To construct a working think tank, you must place the tank on top of a bookshelf, with nothing occupying the space in a 3x3x3 cube around the tank except for the bookshelf it is placed on. Note that a wand does not need to be used when setting up your think tank.

Description:
You have discovered a way to take advantage of a previously untapped source of essentia - that of living creatures. Infusing an alchemical furnace with various occult reagents and precise quantities of essentia, will create a crucible of souls, a device that will seek out the nearest living creature and slowly drain their life force, retrieving essentia at the final blow. This comes at the cost of the normal loot the creature would drop. This essentia can then be piped out of any face except the top via essentia tubes.
The crucible of souls is very unstable, and has a high probability of converting some of the essentia to flux or breaking it down into its component parts. You should make preparations to dispose of this flux before it causes a problem.
You have managed to install a basic safeguard so the device will not attack humans, but keep your pets at a safe distance.

Description:
You have finally found a practical use for amber, in the form of a wand core. Amber serves as a poor conduit for vis, and thus can only hold 10 vis of each type, but it has other benefits. Amber cores seem to store a fleeting memory of vis when empty. By harnessing this memory, you have created a wand core that can replenish all forms of vis at a rather quick rate when below 50% capacity. While many of the other wand cores you have created have had regenerative properties, the amber core regenerates one point of every type of vis, instead of one type in particular, at three times the rate.

Description:
Strange energies swirl through the Nether. On occassion they have been known to solidify into crystal shards which certain sympathetic events occur.
These crystals are imbued with different vices and have many uses for more Unscrupulous Thaumaturges
There are seven documented types of a nether shard, each attuned to a different "deadly sin."

Wrath Shards crystallize around acts of violence. The more excessive the physical force used, the more likely it is for a wrath shard to appear.
Sloth Shards congeal when proxies and accidents are used to collect resources without effort.
Envy Shards are taken from those who have them by those that covet them.
Pride Shards materialize when a creature of truly great power is cut down to size.
More symp[athetic events may reveal themselves as time goes on.

Description:
Infusing a backpack with magic and materials of magical nature will increase its overall durability and storage capacity. Thanks to the upgrade, it'll be able to accept enchantments more easily, including the repair enchantment. As long as the backpack has the repair enchantment, items inside it will be able to repair as well, at a slower rate.
A similar thing is possible with a reinforced iron chest and a bunch of thaumium, which will result in a more durable chest which can also store more items.

Numerous typos, non-sensical items and descriptions, uninspired entries, it just didn't end up, in my own opinion, meeting Thaumcraft's vision. I thought the author had just made this mod and there was more to come but clearly this is not the case. It's clearly evident not much thought went into this and I apologize on account of what you read if it's confusing. It was confusing to me too. I'm still confused about some of the things here.

So I'm not the only one staring at that Air Block description going "Huuuh? Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa? o____O" :p

Edit: Also, should be "Steel" in the crowbar description.

Let me try to emphasize what that block does.
It literally acts like an air block. You place it down and it's a plain yellow block, no texture involved, and when you try to place a block in or or around it, it replaces the air block with the one you placed, thus you've just wasted your block.

I THINK what he was trying to make was a block that you can use to place blocks at with a distance, but I think it defeats the point when you'd have to place that block anyway.

I dunno man, it's freaking weird.

EDIT: Fixed my typo by the way.

Sorry about my mod being dumb, in your opinion, okey i get it i didnt give enough info and writed everything out nicely, this mod isnt on version v1.0 so except it to net yet be perfect, i will promise to have huge improvments in the upcoming update (v0.2), again sorry about me making a mod that non here likes next time having comments like that just post it on my thread this looks a bit sneaky to me.

(Air Block and fire block are two things that i should implement before update v0.2 because there they are going to have an real use and such, and work for real)
If you like to remove the cheat sheet go ahead i dont really care, i actually like it. but i will promise i will make huge improvements soon.

Dumb is a strong word. To call this mod dumb would be to call every other addon mod dumb for attempting to expand the thaumcraft universe which is a tried and tested endeavour that's proven very fruitful. It's not dumb. I started off liking this mod for it's ideas, the documentation however, failed to live up to my expectations. It's disappointing - Not dumb.

I doubt you've seen this or any of my Cheat Sheet threads before so I'll explain in summary what it is I do here. I as a major fan of the Thaumcraft mods take it upon myself to regularly chronicle the thaumonomicon entries of their respective mods. This is one that ws started yesterday-ish for smaller addons. It was your mod that inspired this idea, as a matter of fact. I put my feelings about mods here because that's where they belong and given the quality of your mod I wager you will have heard nothing here that's any different to your thread.

I advise they be the first of your changes. I think it's obvious why.

As it stands your mod exists and the potential is there. So long as I see that potential your entries will remain, however there are other modders who have made their own addons who deserve the same attention if not more than you given the level of hard work and quality they deliver.
Edit Also v0.2 will have improved documentation and such.
I genuinely look forward to seeing it.

You asked for this. Bare in mind these are pre-update. I haven't yet seen 0.2
  • You don't need your own thaumonomicon subcatagory for your stuff. There already are five subgatagories with which your items shouldn't deviate from. Keep them within those tabs so that it doesn't clutter the thaumonomicon.
  • Your descriptions are minimal at best. Look at the Thaunonomicon entries, they describe, without breaking the fourth wall too much, what the item is, how you came across this research, what you use this item for, etc.
  • Your taglines (with [TCE]) don't need to repeat the name of the entry itself. It makes it look lazy.
  • Using ONE research aspect for not one but three out of four of your Wand Foci is abysmal. Yes you could argue that it's balanced by the cost, but when you remember that your items are one of the most costly items to make in the Thaumonomicon, it demotivates the user to make them.
  • Fire Block and Air Block are as it stands now - Useless. Placing a block on your air block replaces that block with that you tried to place on it. I don't care if that was the intended effect, that's a waste.
  • Also their textures.
  • Admittedly, your pech trading system is cool and this was one of the ideas that turned me on to the mod, however Pech Summoning is too overpowered to consider fair to use. Especially with it's minimal aspect requirement to research.
  • You don't need "tiers" for pech trading. This it just a resource sink. Looking into the math a Tier 5 trade item we'd need close to 60 thousand tier 1's to get one. This is too much.
  • You need to explain the difference of Pech and Magic trade better.
  • Wand Focus: Arrow is pointless. It renders bows useless for a start, but is still outdone by the Fire and Lightning Foci from Vanilla Thaumcraft.
  • Wand Focus: Blink needs balancing. I do like this idea, but you're not the first to try it and blinking through walls, if it allows it, may not be received well.
  • Wand Focus: Speed is redundant with the traveller's paving stone/boots of the traveller/haste enchantment.
  • Wand Focus: Heal may be cool, especially with balance on usage but you need to go into more detail with this in it's entry as there is already a lot of dangerous stuff in Thaumcraft. People may just choose to not bother.
  • Speaking of dangerous stuff, your dangerous instability on a majority of items is enough reason for people not to use your stuff. Reserve this option for end-game gear.
  • Your trading system is basically the jewel of this mod. This alone would warrant a subcatagory in the thaunonomicon, once balanced, like for a sort of Pech/Thaum Villager currency for trading to avoid the draining of gold, diamonds and emeralds. I'd LOVE to see this be more indepth and balanced.
  • Everything other than your Pech Trades can be in another subcatagory however. The Wand Foci should go into Thaumaturgy, Thaumcraft Extras (Which you don't really need) in Basic Information, Fire/Air block in Artifice.
  • MOST IMPORTANTLY - FIX YOUR GRAMMAR AND TYPOS. Call me a Grammar Nazi if you want, idgaf. This is the stuff that your mod's judged on by everyone.
There's probably a lot of stuff I'm missing out, you'll have to forgive me. I just woke up. I hope you put this to use. I'll be looking into your new update a little later. I'm looking forward to it.

Textures and entries are fixed already will work on balance for the next update, i keep the tab because its nicer to see though (for now)

The tiers and there price are intended, there worth is caclulated in there price.

Air block is going to be used for something later on, the tagline text i didnt notice since recently the latest update already changed it a bit.
Fire Block has an use now if you checkout the latest update you'll find out.

I am going to get research improvements asap
I hope getting an update out today.

So given that quite a bit has changed in 0.2, I'm going to have to start a new research world because the order of research has changed and some research that I hadn't completed myself has been completed.

I hope you guys appreciate this. It's a pain to start a new world.
