What's new in modded minecraft today?

Call me paranoid, but I'm never optimistic: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embrace,_extend_and_extinguish

What cool little thing have you discovered today?

To the recent events discussion (aka lol drama) thread with ye, drama! As for cool things, I don't recall if it's Steve's Factory Manager or Steve's Add-ons, but the camouflage options also allow disabling collision and rendering entirely

Old player returning to Minecraft... what's up?

For third party packs, I use SolitaryCraft through ATLauncher as it's made for mix and matching mods and personally I prefer my packs weightier than the more recent FTB packs (which I completely understand is largely for tech support and stability reasons). Botania has really become a shining...

Old player returning to Minecraft... what's up?

Botania is even more awesome, Ender IO got big without TE conduits, FTB pack choice seems split as there wasn't a flagship/kitchen sink pack till just recently. Oh, and BuildCraft had a great revival: even better gates, robots, and a working builder!

    Easy Mana

The key thing is to use multiple flowers. Just one will be slow no matter what. I suggest multiple thermalillies or the multiple lava flowers.

Right click for NEI, don't recall for AE.

    TiC bows arrows etc

If IguanaTweaks is installed, you don't start with any modifiers unless you've used thaumium or paper.

At this point, I'd support anyone for additional spam janitor. The forums really need a captcha, or a new one.

Clicked with the wand, checked spacing, bock placement, everything. Do I need mana spreaders doing anything particular?

Are there any other conditions besides what's in the Lexica to open a portal to Alfheim? I've got 2 full mana pools and everything in the picture besides the chessboard wood floor.

    Request Early Game Items.

Not always really game (depends on leather), but OpenBlock's hang glider is a great exploration tool.

When the ship is compiled in flight mode, it becomes an entity, so no blocks function afaik, unless something has changed in the past few versions.

Just posting to confirm, yes, although the tool was "broken" and I couldn't mine with it, once it auto repaired up to full durability it let me switch out the head no problem. --- Is there a simple mod our add-on that shows the defensive value of armor pieces? Using metallurgy, I have no idea...

Can Tinker's Construct tools that are broken but have been auto repaired to full durability have their parts replaced? Specifically, with the Iguana Tweaks mod installed? (Is it still called that?)

Yup, Dwarf Fortress does the same thing with its geology. My fiancee enjoys gemology and some geology, and it always pleased me when my game knowledge actually gave me some real world knowledge. However, having played some with underground biomes, yeah that's gonna suck up your inventory space...

http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-mods/2176322-router-reborn-1-0-1b (From the news thread) This pleases me. I've wanted this since it was announced routers were being removed. Servos are cool, yeah, but routers could do some very unique stuff.

For ExU colored blocks, I'm not crazy about most of them either, but if you check out some of his other tweets, it looks like he made a system for automatically generating colored variants, even for texture packs. The test batch might not be immediately stunning, but I'm sure a system like that...

    Recent Events Discussion (RED) Thread

Honestly, I'm still in favor of a locked/permissioned thread for just updates. Let people request access to it, and revoke it if they aren't posting news. Reddit, IRC, Twitter, Minecraft forums, posts on here by mod authors in other threads, RFC 1149...all news is relevant. Posts of just gifs...

@Vazkii Honestly, other than Witchery's insanely fast update schedule, you've got one of the quickest developing mods, with very unique style and content, and good graphics to boot. Don't be so hard on yourself, but absolutely take some time for yourself if you're feeling burnt out.

    Recent Events Discussion (RED) Thread

Reddit seriously isn't full of people asking for nerfs or extremists. There's some GregTech fans who are sometimes vocal when balance comes up, but that's about it. Almost every thread I've seen there is actually pretty civil, despite the lack of moderation. As for the new Mekanism gas changes...
