I'm not using GregTech, but I checked it out in the beta pack. I figured it might have a solution, but I think there should be a standalone solution (not tied to another mod).

You know, I hadn't thought about this before, but maybe a mod to remove the recipes for all but one of each block and nugget? I wonder if Forge Lexicon will still allow you to convert to the other nuggets and blocks if crafting them is disabled.

I would like to start a server using one of the FTB packs and add our community's old vanilla (bukkit) map as a separate dimension. Any ideas would be immensely appreciated. I assume I'd have to be sure the map was update by Minecraft to the same MC version as that in the FTB pack I'd use...
