Expensive? unlikely, thanks to EE3 you can get diamonds without ever setting foot in a deep cave via growing and knocking down giant jungle trees then converting the wood to iron/gold/diamonds for those higher end cables

plenty of ways to convert it and lava? more or less the same deal in the end geothermals are terrible for lava, use a better machine or a dang magmatic feeding MJ into a converter of some sort

wearing any power armor with mods? after so much that stuff will slow you down including jumping/flying/running

could also rerout the cobble/dirt/gravel into recyclers and use that to boost uu matter production

originally used them as scenic walkway lighting until the poking began... might make for a nice spike trap or mob grinder floor

can only hazard a guess but since glyphs are gained from certain villagers/treasure chests in dungeons, mineshafts, and other such structures you add these pages into the writing desk to be able to custom choose that glyph
