Right, I'm going with DW pack. I replaced Compact Solars with Advanced ones and planning to add GregTech. Do I have to change something in a config file to add GT? Or I can just slam it in the pack and no problem?

Tin is a pain! It's almost rarer than diamond for me! I usually hang around in cave systems, so no y12 tunneling, but I found 10 diamonds and 6 tin so far (mined for around 1 hour)

Re-download the whole FTB launcher. It fixes 90% of the problems :P And, as said by Silvas, distributing minecraft.jar IS piracy.
