Before updating always backup your worlds forlder, this is your actual minecraftworld. Download and overwrite all files (make any adjustments again to your configfiles you want) and copy back your world.

issue stays the same, the solution aswell, only the folders are prob on a different location. I have no idea where the normal minecraft gets installed.

i think there is on their private jenkins server for DEV builds. although i guess the ic2 in the dw20 or mindcrack pack is compatible since i believe they use 1.4.7

nah, you delete the folder from the saves or world folder. You move your character to the overworld (dimension 0) with NBTExplorer. You login and delete the book ingame. Incase step 2 fails then you will get back into the same age (and the same crash).

prob not, since there are several changes between the minecraft version in minecraft itself, other then that ForgeModLoader checks the mc versions.

Hard to say since i aint playing on your server, best guess is that the pipe is either connected wrong / not connected at all or can't reach is destination machine / storage. deinstall the 64 bit, deinstall the 32bit and only install the 64 bit. OR are you using a 32bit OS?
