    GregTech Debate Thread

The most direct comparison I can see is vanilla Potions of Fire Resistance, which require magma creams as an ingredient. When you compare the handful of rubber, orange dye, and iron needed per hazmat suit in comparison it's completely different. And then we haven't even mentioned that the Hazmat...

    GregTech Debate Thread

Absolutely it was! But when you compare its cost to give complete fire / lava immunity (albeit for a short while) vs other options that exist / have existed (Fire resistance enchantments, IC2 Quantum Armor, EE2's Ring of Ignition / Vulcanite Amulet) I'm sure you can agree that it is absurdly...

    GregTech Debate Thread

I'd honestly be fine with that too. Being able to take quick swims in lava after about 20 minutes into a new world with the right luck sure seems awfully strange to me.

    GregTech Debate Thread

I have to admit I'm not really sure why there's so much criticism against the inclusion of Gregtech. Are you confused about what it can do or what recipes it changes? There's a whole wiki devoted to Gregtech here: http://gregtech-addon.wikispaces.com/ Granted, the version of Gregtech in FTB is...

    Seeking: Getting Started Guides

Can I compare functionality or usage to other mods? Something like "Thermal Expansion is a good candidate for basic ore doubling if you have difficulty finding rubber or silver" or "Buildcraft Stone Conductive Pipes are fine for a nascent energy network, but when you find the need to upgrade...

Macerator or induction furnace - What to start with?

The Pulverizer has three distinct advantages over the Macerator: 1. The Macerator is much more expensive to build if you don't disable the gregtech recipes. Additionally if you can't find any rubber then you're out of luck. The only really expensive aspect of the Pulverizer is 2 gold. 2. The...

    Use for cobblestone and dirt?

Additionally, if you put dirt in a Gregtech Industrial Centrifuge, one of the outputs is clay, which can be useful if you don't want to get it via Industrialization. You could even set up a self-sustaining infinite clay factory, by using the route of most plants > Plantballs > Macerated into...

    Use for cobblestone and dirt?

Also there's a new GregTech machine (not in FTB yet) that automatically will unpack scrap boxes for you.

    Feed the City [Ultimate Pack][1.4.6][Whitelist][Survival][Filmed]

IGN: Kyre Elsion Position: Technical Builder (but can do some grunt and aesthetic work) I don't have any specific builds I've done in the past, so I built something small to show what I'm capable of. It's a bar that serves Mead, which is generated automatically in the basement with input of...

Gold Energy Pipes vs. Redstone Conduits?

In terms of price, conduits are roughly comparable to golden conductive pipes: 8 gold conductive pipes is: - 2 gold - 1 glass - 8 redstone 8 Redstone Conduits is: - 1 gold - 1 silver - 1 lead - 1 obsidian - 8 redstone - Some buildcraft power to assemble the conduits (8,320 MJ) I don't know...

    IC2 energy control

MFSUs can output a redstone signal if there's specific requirements, and I believe MFEs can do so as well. The most straightforward way of doing this is by having your MFE output a redstone signal when it is full and using that to control a splitter cable leading to your mass fab.

    Terrafirmacraft

I wish that someone made a small addon to TFC to have its ores and materials work with the FTB mods, to simulate a tech tree similar to Better Than Wolves. I think that would be amazingly fun! Imagine having to smelt hematite into iron and steel the hard way in TFC with a bloomery, but then...

    Making Peat Bog

You can also make Bog Earth automatically using a carpenter!

What does YOUR Power Room look like?

Ah, sorry, I misread your post. The first thing that comes to mind is using Thermal Expansion's Magma Crucible to create lava, which you then put into an IC2 Geothermal Generator - but I don't think the ratio of MJ to EU is very good. An alternative that probably would work better would be to...

What does YOUR Power Room look like?

The Electrical Engine from Forestry will allow you to directly convert EU to MJ.

    verticle redstone?

It's actually really easy to do this right now - just use buildcraft gates, pipe wires, and cobblestone structure pipes.

Recipes changes from refined iron to steel !

I actually really like this change! It always seemed silly to me to have the Drill and Chainsaw a half hour into your world. Now it feels like you'll have to earn the ability to use them. Also you'll have to go out of your way to unlock the ability to get Mixed Metal Ingots and advanced machines.

    Cider's Stuff

Forcing IC2 to use Railcraft steel is brilliant! I always thought it really iffy how early that you can get into IC2 machines based on a new world, so I really like how it changes that. And I'm a sucker for BC Liquids, so I would love to make a giant railcraft tank full of Apple Cider. If you...

    Suggest Mods for FTB Here

Extra Bees isn't in the already covered list? It was put into the original teaser graphic. I know I'd love to see it in FTB.

    Redalloy wire alternative

Well, another way you could accomplish vertical redstone transmission would be using IC2 Splitter and EU Detector cables really creatively. But unless you do something like attach a Solar panel to a Forestry Electrical Engine / Mass Fab then you'd have to manually maintain the system occasionally.
