I've managed to lose all the quest rocket fuel in the process of trying to pipe it into the fuel loader. is it broken, or am i doing something very wrong?

I think I recall that one. Fill it up then "Activate" it (right click?) or something like that and it registers.

An even bigger problem for most people were lighting updates if I recall correctly. If it changed the lighting of a room you could have a massive amount of lighting recalculations to do. (massive client side lag)

Honestly, at this point between MFR, bees, soul shards, dart craft, some natural gen added by other mods e.t.c. e.t.c. I think we would be better off trying to find better ways of gating/balancing then presuming you can't move spawners. Though that wrench needs some tweaking. ^^

You can use the activated chain of chunks with the pipes to chunkload the redstone too. The only catch is you have to be careful to make sure it can't be jammed on by the order it disables.
