Personally, I don't use other peoples' worlds. But to stay on topic, Silverwood trees aren't at all what I'd call frequent, they're a bit in the rare zone. It's common to not be able to locate them so easily so just keep looking. Azanor likes to make us struggle.

Is it chunk-loaded on it's journey to the Quarry? that might be your problem, though, that probably wouldn't answer it disappearing, if it's not chunk-loaded then it should just stop. Just a first thought though...
