Yes, you cannot feed it directly, you have to use a mechanical user. You can also drop a bucket into it and collect it with a hopperhock. Botania can self automate.

Thats intended. You can however make one with Actually Additions. Note the AA spawner does not drop itself if you break it.

This may be related to memory issues RS has, just looking at the controller can cause crash loops.
