You only need to install JDK after uninstall as the JDK package includes the JRE package.

Have you downloaded the JRE or the JDK package? For servers you need the JDK package http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html If you do only have the JRE package you need to do a full uninstall and then put in JDK preferably after a restart of your computer.

Not sure on this but it seems that there is something else that crash the server. It's 10 min between the use of wrench and the crash and would not likely been the reason. There are others with similar problems but with strange macerator behavior. You can read it here...
