For anyone trying to get dynamic lights to work... http://www.atomicstryker.net/dynamiclights.html Re'name the dynamiclights_1.5.2.jar in coremods to z-dynamiclights_1.5.2.jar and it will work. This causes the mod to load last and avoids the crash you otherwise get.

You say that like beta with Gregtech has a biome mod... Which it doesn't. Real shame BOP wasn't in but early days.

ok... no idea why. But I disabled addblock for that page and it works fine. Edit: confirmed, re'enabling addblock causes the same issue.

All mods these days are multiplayer mods since the changes to minecraft some time ago. So Yes, it will be a server version option. Unless I am very very wrong :p
