Is there an objectively best power source?

Thanks to power converters, we can directly compare power sources that don't produce the same type of energy. For example, a fusion reactor produces about 13482 mj/t with a power converter - pretty much 94 times as much as a 36hp boiler. Not that that's very helpful since you have to take into...

    What do you consider cheating?

Hate to contradict you (actually I don't), but full nano gives 90% protection. A suit of full iron with protection IV on each piece gives on average 84% protection. Besides, with the latest version of gravisuite you can combine an advanced jetpack and a nano chestplate into one - a poor man's...

    Gregtech Digital Chest?

I think Greg implemented the digital chest as a way of having lots of item storage without needing any other mods installed (other than IC2 obviously). Even if you think they're pointless, I think you can configure the amount it stores. If you STILL think its pointless, then there's always the...

    Help generating power

How dare you criticise my lovely reactors! My reactor setup produces 5760 EU/t with only 12 uranium ore needed per cycle. I'd much rather use this than any piddly solars. Admittedly, its a bit complicated, but if you solars you might as well go back to EE2 and use energy collectors - they do...

    IC2 Addon [Tools/Armor/Recipes This Update][Functionality Next]

I could really do with another way to get chrome. The fact that you can only get it from ruby dust/UU matter makes it much too expensive for what it does.

[DW20] 1 Steam boiler+ 2 Steam Turbines VS [supposid] 360 EU] Nuclear Reactor.

Although its not exactly cheap, my matter fabricator is powered by 8 small DDOS reactors that each give 720 eu/t, for a grand total of 5760 eu/t, the efficiency of 6 isn't too shabby either. Its also fully automated apart from replacing the fuel. Each cycle uses 48 quad uranium cells, which is a...

Is there any way to change item recipes?

Specifically, I wanted to change the recipes of duo/quad uranium/plutonium cells to require copper ingots rather than dense copper plates, because they are frankly extortionate, and Greg has already done it for duo/quad thorium cells.

    Glitchy deathpoints.

Well, they have to be fireboats because you can't float normal boats in the nether (on account of the lava). Apart from that I agree.

    Just had an idea...

I know the setting up will be the same, etc. I meant: how do you know how much steam you're getting from a given reactor? If, for example, a reactor would normally produce 100 eu/t, how much steam do you get?

    Just had an idea...

Well obviously I knew that, I meant is there some sort of "exchange rate" so you can determine how much power you'll get. E.g. 5 eu/t=2mj/t.

    Just had an idea...

Is that so? How much power do they give?

    Just had an idea...

Sorry if this is in the wrong sub-forum, if so could a nice mod/admin please move it? Anyway, just wondered what everyone thought of the idea of a nuclear engine. You feed it uranium as fuel, pump water into it, and hey presto - power. To be worth using over a steam boiler, it ought to have a...

More efficient/completely safe nuclear reactor setups?

Oh, I didn't know that. Well that's bad. Not because it'll lead to a big explosion, since the state cell resetting will just cause the cooling cell replacement cycle. However, that would lower the effective eu/t quite a bit. Is there a way to avoid this (other than computers)?

More efficient/completely safe nuclear reactor setups?

Wow, hasn't this thread come a long way? Who would've thought people would be so enthusiastic to generate EU in the unsafest manner possible eh? Anyway, after many long hours of tinkering i've finally built a fully automated (well, apart from the fuel), highly powerful DDOS reactor setup...

So, whats the best way to harvest a wheat field this size?

Why exactly do you need so much wheat? If you want it for biomass, sugar cane is much faster. As for harvesting, as everyone is saying, golems are pretty much your only option that is practical (that I can think of). Also, if you have Xeno's reliquary installed, put a lilypad of fertility on...

Serious problem with RP filters & retrievers.

I know the sub-value refers to more than just damage, however i've just seen people call them damage values when they refer to something completely different, I guess I got it from there. Anyway, previously I was using helium cooling cells. I tried using NaK cooling cells instead, and for some...

Serious problem with RP filters & retrievers.

Well, this is odd. The cooling cells I was testing are 360k helium cooling cells. I replaced them with 360k NaK cooling cells and they work just fine. It semms the retrievers/filters do recognize whether or not an item has a damage value, but it doesn't do it for all items. Is this a glitch?

Serious problem with RP filters & retrievers.

I thought that the filters/retrievers did differentiate between damage values and no damage values (I know the exact damage value doesn't matter). This definitely used to work - on my last world I managed to get my DDOS reactor working fine with the filters & retrievers. Has there been any...

Serious problem with RP filters & retrievers.

Yes, they do. A coolant cell has an id of 21292. A cell that is 1% damaged has id 21292:1. So they do really have a damage value. I should add that when I last tried this a while ago, it definitely used to work. So it can only be something that happened recently.

Serious problem with RP filters & retrievers.

Ok, so i'm setting up my DDOS reactor setup (if you don't know what that is, look it up). I have 8 reactors being cooled by 30 cooling towers, and I have 2 retrievers - one to pull used cooling cells out of the reactors (cells with damage values), and one to pull cooled cells out of the coolers...
