No you cannot, due to the fact that bukkit will not run Forge mods which are required for the world to be moved over. And using bukkit or mcpc+ voids your support requests.
Add the launcher to your firewall rules and allow inbound and outbound connections, also try changing your advanced settings in regards to download servers
Add a filter to your firewalls. That is the best thing I can advise, also go into advanced settings and change your download location to Miami (the newest and fastest repo)
The launcher is perfectly compatible with Windows 8/8.1. Tell your friend to get the .jar version instead of the .exe and see if that works. My friends all run Windows 8.1 and have no problems whatsoever.
In this case, it seems to be running automatically, due to there not being enough RAM for it to use for the game. There is no way to disable it if so unless you increase the RAM allocation somehow.
Um, you are missing a library class, delete the folder labelled Libraries and launch the game, it should redownload them, otherwise try doing a complete reinstall of FTB (wipe all files to do with FTB).

Have you checked that you are running a 64 bit OS. Go into start->All programs->Accessories->System Tools->System Information. This will tell you what version of Windows you have.
Right, if you go into control panel and click on Java, it will give you some settings. Go through those and make sure that any JVM argument boxes are empty.
