It's not a bug... They track you and walk towards you. They walk up against the wall which makes them climb it (spiders treat every block like players treat ladders). When they get high enough they forget about your existence and stop tracking you. So they drop to the ground, where they "see"...

How is this a bug? Spiders track you through walls to ambush you. It's intended behaviour. You can add a rim to your roof so that they can't climb up, it works with microblocks (if you have them) because it screws with their pathfinding. But honestly just lighting up your house in a 20 block...

You wouldn't need the second detector or the T flipflop, logically wouldn't the door just close again when you left the play detector range? They work by states not pulses. Also, if I recall correctly, Kirindave already made one of these but with pistons (see above post by DB :D )

It's not a roof, just a single block. You can probably use TC warded glass to make it even harder to see.

I think that (vanilla trees at least) are hardcoded to leave dirt alone. So if you make an ugly wall you won't have this problem. Otherwise, use a tree (like birch) that don't have huge versions or just make the enclosure larger.
