This is exactly why I have it setup to automatically upload my saves to dropbox. I used this guide to setup a symbolic link for only my FTB saves. The great thing with dropbox is that you can go on their website and download previous versions of your files. I had this happen to me a few months...

Only one so far. It was when I just started my first brand new Ultimate world. I had an established Mindcrack world so I was just about to quit Ultimate when I found the portal gun. That one item made me stay my Ultimate world which I'm pretty happy with so far.

Yeah, with every official update I'm always disappointed with the lack of new interesting content. I guess I'm just jaded from all the cool stuff the mods add. I think they should adopt forge but I highly doubt they will.

Yeah, I noticed this issue too the other day. I also died in the Nether and the death point the voxel map was way off where I actually died and because of that I lost all my stuff because I got lost.

I know you said you didn't want to watch videos but I highly recommend Direwolf20 since he explains how the mods work very well. Though he doesn't use GregTech he mainly starts out with Thermal Expansion which is a great way to avoid using GregTech until you have more resources to devote to it.

I don't mind GregTech, mostly because lately when I play I never use much of IC2 other than the jetpack. Though it just feels strange for the "Ultimate" pack to have the easier vanilla recipes for the Power Suits enabled from the start. I'm sure it wasn't meant to be enabled with this pack...

I'm enjoying this great mod too. However, with the ultimate pack is it normal that the Modular Power Suit recipes are vanilla and Gregtech? I know I can change the recipes through the config but I was wondering was it intended for the vanilla to be enabled since those are much easier recipes...

That is one of the primary reasons I switched from Mindcrack to Ultimate after watching Dire's spotlight of Applied Energistics. I normally enjoy using redpower to sort to both barrels and chests. However, I'm ready try something different and seemingly more compact.

You could do some blaze hunting in the nether with a soul shard to a earn a tier 5 blaze spawner. With unlimited blaze rods you can feed them into several generators. Not an easy way but try to get a soul Stealer enchant on vile sword to help out.

Yep I try to keep mine locked too, though it is very easy to unlock it. lol It doesn't help that every time the pack is updated it gets unlocked by default.
