So instead of a crash exception on a recipe overload you would've wanted a recipe war... each mod maker trying to overload each others recipes and maybe, eventually lagging out your whole game?

I know what happened because i've seen the code. I'm not sure if you have. Nah sorry it's not illegal to stop a product you make from starting. Also it doesn't cause you nor anything you own any harm. Malware actually needs to cause permanent damage, GT doesnt.

No. He used a timer to delay a recipe-rewrite because he knew GT was overloading it. That was an attack towards GT.

Actually right now, it isnt. alot of mods have failure conditions that will forcefully close the client if one happens. GT just happens to be using one to avoid itemID conflicts. he has every right to do so. Childish to implement it when he knew it would crash the client immediately though (at...

Nothing. because he didnt. Mdiyo did.

Do you really think that GT is the only mod that uses runtime exceptions to halt loading process? PLEASE.

Yes, but what i meant is that he doesn't need to be distributing the mod to you if he doesn't want to. Everything he does in the mod are only subject to Mojang's TOS. and really ... nothing he has done here conflicts with that TOS.. throwing an exception when in loading phase is not against...

Ah well, he does have the right to do that BUT it is a really stupid move. The right thing to do would be to just force an unload of the mod.

Bold words or not. It's his mod, you're only playing it because he allows you to.

Ah yes, but as the creator of the mod, it's his call what's compatible or not..... and not yours

You do know that the GT packs are the most played ones though? I'm not sure if rage-kicking GT out is the right decision for FTB. best decision would be to just discuss it with greg and try to get a solution. OUTSIDE of pointless forum threads.

In startup.. yes. Also gives you an error about the exception. It is a mod refusing to start.

So quitting a mod during initialization is against that law? No sorry it's not. You should read the law again. There is no threat to you or your property if a mod refuses to start.

Gregtech deliberately crashing client if TC installed..

Sure. I'll return the discussion to the topic: Summary: I also think what mDiyo did was wrong, and it obviously was a retaliation. Immature. I think what Greg did was really wrong and it obviously was a retaliation. Immature. mDiyo seems to be the one more mature by approaching Greg and saying...

Gregtech deliberately crashing client if TC installed..

AFAIK in the future FTB Ultimate will have 2 separate packs, one with GT and one without. Which I think is the perfect solution. Better yet, let mod makers decide if they want to be in the same pack with GT

Gregtech deliberately crashing client if TC installed..

How many pieces of bolded wood you need to make a complete set of Tconstruct templates and how it broke anything with Tconstruct?
  17. C

Gregtech deliberately crashing client if TC installed..

Well not EXACTLY. what mDiyo did (afaik. please correct me if im wrong) was implement a timer for the sole purpose of screwing up with gregtech on a recipe that greg nerfed from vanilla. (that also has a config option). This was a direct attack against GT as the nerf Greg introduced didn't...

Gregtech deliberately crashing client if TC installed..

You can say the same thing about this incident (mdiyo challenging Greg to do something). It's not an excuse though.

Really? I was under the impression that Sengir actually did that to tekkit. (Not that it really should make a difference on this topic)
