    A Shitstorm

What you're not understanding is that this is only a problem for players who care what their neighbors have/are doing. Some people don't, and will choose whatever mod suits their needs, whatever those may be.

Haven't we? A) RF can be complex, but no one has made a mod that does so, and someone should. B) Other mods should stick to their guns and not give in to pressure to add RF support or swap to RF if they don't feel it's appropriate. Have we not all agreed on these points?

    A Shitstorm

I was talking about the mod Warp Books. I'm just going to agree to disagree because this is going in circles. I feel like my point is just not getting across to you and I don't know how to make it anymore clear. We did... about RF.
  4. D

    A Shitstorm

I don't see what the problem is. It's not like this hasn't been civil.

It's clear that he meant exactly that, but again that's only one definition of superiority. For example, the guy I built my current pack with wanted Warp Books for player transportation, I wanted Enhanced Portals 3. We decided to add both. Warp Books are clearly the best option if your only goal...

"Superior" is entirely subjective. MFR farms being easier to set up and use only makes them superior if your goal is the fastest, easiest farm possible. If your goal is to make something complex or just "cool," then perhaps forestry farms are superior. It all depends on what you value in your play.

    A Shitstorm

Yes? Obviously if your goal is to compete with other players than you have to use the most "op option." That doesn't mean other options shouldn't exist for people who don't give a damn about what their neighbor has.

    A Shitstorm

That's the player's choice though. Do they value competing with other players, or do they value complex builds? I would have to question why a server based around competition would be running a complex RF mod in the first place though.
  9. D

    A Shitstorm

Yes, but like I said, those people clearly didn't want the complicated content in the first place, or at least didn't value it as highly as they do competing with other people.
  10. D

    A Shitstorm

No, like I said I feel like we're in agreement now, even if you don't agree that we're in agreement.

This is what happens when my server is down and there's no activity in the modded news thread.
  12. D

    A Shitstorm

Yeah. Certainly nothing wrong with making design choices like that, just not my preference.
  13. D

    A Shitstorm

I agree with this, but I feel like if users need to be closed off from easier content to make them choose more complicated content, they didn't really want the complicated content to start with. I'm always in favor of the player having as much choice as possible.
  14. D

    A Shitstorm

Well, yes obviously. How does this refute my last post? Why would you even being the planning process if you anticipated hate and didn't think you could handle it?
  15. D

    A Shitstorm

What is the point of this statement? I'm not even being snarky I honestly don't see the relevance.
  16. D

    A Shitstorm

Sorry, what argument am I making that these are refuting? All I've ever been saying in this thread is that RF's api can be used to create complex power systems and that potential community backlash is not a good reason to not use it for exactly that purpose. Obviously if you're considering...
  17. D

    A Shitstorm

So you've obviously changed your position from earlier in the thread that community hate is so undesirable that no one would make a complex RF mod, so why is this topic even still being discussed?
  18. D

    A Shitstorm

I totally agree, but for some reason some people in this thread are so concerned with criticism that they'd rather make no mod at all than one that some people wouldn't like.
  19. D

    A Shitstorm

If the only interaction you have with the community is a thread on these forums? Seems doable. Edit: After reading the post above this one, I've decided Shneeky is completely correct. This whole argument about community backlash is irrelevant.

    A Shitstorm

I said no such thing. We're talking about a hypothetical mod developer here, I thought it went without saying that such a person would be making a complex RF mod because they wanted to do that. Other people are saying such a person could not exist because no one could withstand the community...
