i think ive figured it out. what your doing is macerating charcoal and not coal which gets you charcoal dust instead of coal dust.

did you try it in the 2x2 crafting area when in the inventory? if that does not work i dont know what to tell you.

if you look up the recipe in NEI it shows that you need three coal dust/pulverized coal. thats a graphical bug. you need four coal dust/pulverized coal to make raw carbon fiber. to make the mesh just put two fibers next to each other in a crafting table to get the mesh.

i have indeed tried removing the TE tank to no change. i have 75 bookcases in 5x5 walls 3 blocks away from the table. i will try you suggestion and see if that works. Edit: bringing the bookcases closer solves the issue. might i add that the small space allowance does not allow for larger setups.

well coolbrz's insight solved the issue. apparently i was connecting the golem to the block i placed it on and NOT the alchemical furnace. i must have overlooked that in the thauminomicon lol.

it is an alchemy golem and the jars have essentia in them. ive tried a decanting golem and ended up with the same result (the golem does nothing).

even after doing all that i still get the same results, NEI stuck in recipe mode when it says its in cheat mode in the options. i was able to figure out a solution though: switch from global to world, change the setting from recipe to cheat and switch back to global.

apparently i couldnt upload the log as the text file does not show up when i click "Upload a File". replacing the mods doesnt help either.
