Thermal Expansion 3.0!!! No More Beta! Thanks KL!

The gates sends a strong redstone signal now. It's like placing a lever directly on the machine instead of on a block next to the machine. Same effect. So, not bug in your end as such, I think. I still prefer the BuildCraft pipes. I feel more in control then. The ItemDuct is a little bit too...

Thermal Expansion 3.0!!! No More Beta! Thanks KL!

Would you consider adding more support for BuildCraft Gates and piping mechanics? With the current implementation there is nothing in BuildCraft that can stop a TE machine from sending resources into a pipe. I can turn the machine off with redstone, but that will often also stop the machines...

    [Question] MFR Oil Fabricator.

I think BuildCraft and Thermal Expansion is targeting two different group of players. The way I see it, BuildCraft requires more engineering. The transportation pipes can drop items unless your are careful and balance your supply with demand. The power system will in general also need more care...

[1.6.4] BC Addon- Adds a Color Sorter to BuildCraft

When I first heard about item coloring in BuildCraft I was actually very exited, but the more I think of it I get more and more convinced it was the wrong choice. It feels "tacked on" and out of place. BuildCraft already have a very powerful routing tool in the diamond pipe. The item coloring...

Thermal Expansion 3.0!!! No More Beta! Thanks KL!

Can't really talk about the cost of BuildCraft pipes without including gates and wiring. You can make some very basic systems without logic, but if you want to compare pipes to the alternatives you wont get far without them.

    BC Filler gripes

It depends on the block type. "Soft" blocks that you can break with your hands to get the item; dirt, sand, logs etc will get a 5 minutes timer. Stone, Coal and other "hard" blocks that don't drop anything if you break it with your hand will last only 1 second.

Solid Fuel Steam Boiler and Lava Buckets

I made a working system. I placed a chest with lava buckets next to the Boiler. It needs to be at the level of the FireBox. The Boiler will take buckets out of the chest and into its inventory. This is the safest option because buckets don't stack. To extract the empty buckets I used a simple...

    Thermal Expansion Status

I'm currently running a small Peat farm on 2 Peat-Engines and it's producing a nice surplus of Peat. The two engines are also powering a Carpenter making Bog Earth and a Pump providing water to both the farm and the Carpenter. I've also added a third Peat engine to power a Tree farm on the...

    Thermal Expansion Status

Even if someone removed the Quarry, Filler, Pump, Refinery, Oil, Fuel, Engines, Power, I would still use BuildCraft for the item transportation pipes, the gates and the wires. Those has for me been the primary reason to play with technical mods at all. All other mods are simply content so that...

    Thermal Expansion Status

For me it would be BuildCraft. A mod that can be used to automate processes and makes it fun doing so.

TE is a mod made for players by a player. Of course it's popular. King Lemming is also a very skilled developer, but I don't find his mod remotely interesting. Have you ever considered playing with TE as your only Mod? With Forestry, RailCraft and ThaumCraft, that is a very good option.

It's possible, but it should not be a goal.

    Thermal Expansion Status

I agree, but I don't think it should be a goal to be popular with everyone. I'm very happy that BuildCraft is in the hands of CovertJaguar, Krapth and Sengir. They're more game designers than most other mod authors. They create interesting mods rather than mods simply to cater the players.

    Thermal Expansion Status

The BuildCraft power distribution system has been improved a lot. The old system was bad on many levels. Usable in small scale systems, but any attempt at making a power station would fail. The design behind the power has't changed though. There are still loss for example. Which is something a...

    Thermal Expansion Status

I like it the way it is. It fits well with the theme of BuildCraft, RailCraft and Forestry family of mods. "Better" alternatives aren't necessarily equally fun for everyone. Just let it go.

    Thermal Expansion Status

The changes to the BuildCraft API prevents other mods from making their own versions of MJ power. It doesn't prevent anyone from using or producing MJ power. Both Forestry and RailCraft manage to do this this just fine and I'm sure there are other examples. What Thermal Expansion did was to...

    Thermal Expansion Status

That was the point with the change I believe. To make BuildCrafts implementation of its own power system the rule for how the power is to be considered by other mods and players. The way I understood it: The Thermal Expansion implementation of BuildCraft power along with many other were in a...

What's the "easiest" auto farm device in unleashed?

Yeah, it depends on how you start. And how you start should be based on what you want to achieve first. Using Creosote oil to make bee housing elements is a shortcut across mod boundaries. An feature not added by Forestry or RailCraft, but a third mod called Plugins for Forestry. I'll admit...

    [1.5.2/1.6.2 Forge] Modular Furnace

I'm also considering a mod that will add a few awesome components to Minecraft, but also useless if added to FTB. That's not going to stop me, but I'm also going to be honest about its limits. My recommendation would be to NOT include it in FTB instead of trying to shoehorn it into some niche.

What's the "easiest" auto farm device in unleashed?

I don't quite understand why people think it's so hard to get seed oil. A single bucket is enough to produce 4 Apiaries which is a very good start if you want to do bee breeding and tree breeding (without Bee Houses).
