    First mod for minecraft ever?

^Oh? As far as Minecraft Wiki tells, the very first proof-of-concept video of Minecraft (at that point called "cave game") was released in May 2009. That's less than five years ago.

    First mod for minecraft ever?

It's really interesting reading this thread. Those "ancient" mods, already slipping into oblivion, being forgotten, people digging deep into their old hard drives and their own memories to find evidence of early mods, trawl Google to find long-forgotten sites and forums listing mods nobody have...

Late game boredom: What does one do with fifteen full resonant energy cells?

My eventual long-term goal: Get to the End, slay the dragon, and convert the entire main "island" into a floating city built from Metal Blocks, Gem Blocks and the like. Make a functional high-tech base in it, with its own, independent power generating system. For extra fun, use lamps instead of...

Request Suggest mods for creation here

Inspired by the newly released game Titanfall (which I, ironically, have not played), I started wondering if there are any mecha mods for Minecraft? I know the various exotic pieces of tools and armour provided by mods will allow you to be invincible, fly, 1-hit-kill mobs with a...

Sacred rubber sapling "ruined" my world... what can i do?

No, the old build height limit was 128. It was increased to 256 a while ago. Don't think it was raised again.

    Poll: Do you like GregTech?

To answer the question of the thread title, I guess I'm in the "Love the stuff it adds..." group. That being said, I haven't played a mod newer than 1.4.7, so my views on it would probably change if I tried the newest version. I like tech trees. The idea of making a humble machine at first...

Sacred rubber sapling "ruined" my world... what can i do?

^That was the idea. Clearing one chunk at a time is less strenous for your computer. As progress goes along, blocks will be removed and it will be safe to load more chunks at a time. Eventually you have little enough left to clear it all with a well-placed nuke (or similar).

Sacred rubber sapling "ruined" my world... what can i do?

Would minimizing the render distance work, and then setting the thing ablaze? With only 3x3 (or even 1x1) chunks loaded, the strain on the system isn't that terrible. Then it could be removed with stuff like quarries, fire, or even TNT. If render distance isn't an option, try to combine a...

What's new in modded minecraft today?

^My interpretation of that would be "Coded while drunk. Checking it the next day, no memories of what it was supposed to do. Removing it seems to crash the game".

Ask a simple question, get a simple answer

Excuse my noobishness, but I have to ask again: What should I backup? The entire .ultimate folder? The world file alone? .minecraft? Thanks a lot for the help!

Ask a simple question, get a simple answer

Yeah, I've allowed myself to spawn in an ordinary Mass Fab once I've made enough to create an Ultimate Hybrid. That was before I realized how absolutely mind-bogglingly resource-consuming it would be, though. Maybe I'll settle for changing the configs instead. Thanks for the answer, anyway! I...

Ask a simple question, get a simple answer

I've heard plenty of people say about FTB Ultimate that "It got boring once I could make an Ultimate Hybrid Solar Panel with two clicks". After playing it for a while myself, I find myself asking: How the hell did they even get to one? With GregTech, the recipe calls for 16 Iridium Plates just...

What's new in modded minecraft today?

Forgive my ignorance, but why is that so? I'm asking out of curiosity, not because I disagree.

    Mod Efficiency

For mining, Quarries can be server friendly once they become big enough. Eventually, the amount of caves and lava lakes you remove will outweigh the extra blocks loaded because of the sides of the quarry. To get there, however, requires you to cross a treshold of quite nasty lag. I guess MFR...

How far is to far with automation?

I automate what I can, to be honest. And I don't look at automation as a means to reach a goal (apart from AE Autocrafting, because manually making stuff like Electronic Circuits or Macine Blocks gets really tedious after a while). My entire goal would be creating the automats in the first...

Those Things That Make You Smile In Minecraft

Finally connecting my quarry to an automated ore processing setup. Items flowing through the pipes, going where they should, being processed by the right machine without making a bottleneck, and finally sorted into a neat sorting system in my depot. After a while of manual mining, it's so...

    Making Things Look "Nice"?

A few years of playing the The Sims series taught me one crucial thing: Never build rooms without a purpose. That is certainly so in Minecraft too. Note that this post gives tips on general layout, not necessarily pretty details. Still, after having built and used a fair number of frustratingly...

Ask a simple question, get a simple answer

From what I've understood, multiblock machines or structures tend to generate loads of lag because the machines constantly have to check for completed structures. See Blast Furnaces for instance, or RailCraft tanks or GregTech's stuff. Build too many of them, or use their blocks wrong, and your...

Those little things that irk you about Minecraft

When your Mining Turtle happens to find a Lava pool on its way, and you don't notice it before much later, and the lava has created a huge "waterfall". Double points if it runs out of fuel/you log off while the turtle is down there somewhere. What's really annoying is that if you try to remove...

Ask a simple question, get a simple answer

In FTB Ultimate, my quarries are starting to transform the area around my base to a surprisingly lag-free hole in the ground (might be due to its size, as there are way, way fewer blocks to load, even accounting for the sides of the hole). I'm largely satisfied with my setup. Solar arrays ->...
