With regard to that - last time I read about this, I think it was possible to switch a mystcraft age and the overworld. That would mean you could quite literally generate a stable world with small biomes of your liking and after that replace your overworld with it - making it the "real" world...

It's not that I do not believe you - I just cannot think of any way the textures are the problem here. The lighting is not done by those in any way, shape or form. That's why I asked about Optifine or Shaders, as they do indeed tweak the lighting engine.

Are you using Optifine, by chance? Because, as you can see, the textures used in the nether are there (they're visible in the foreground). Not sure about Twilight Forest, as there may be some textures missing due to updates. What I mean is, the nethertextures do not suddenly disappear into thin...

I thought it was in there. Derp on my end - it's only the new "Liquid Detector" which uses them. I guessed more of the new "machine" blocks would - but obviously, I was wrong. Still, a density / spawnrate config would be nice. At least, until there ARE more than a single block using them. ^^
