What's new in modded minecraft today?

Just a quick note relating to BuildCraft 7, Logistics Pipes has 2 branches now, both called 0.9 but one has support for BC 6.4, the other for 7. The older 0.8 branch is discontinued and to my knowledge only works with BC 6.4. LP 0.9 BC 6.4 LP 0.9 BC 7.0 LP 0.8

A few things I have noticed about modded mc from a hardware standpoint

I absolutely agree. I was speaking from a hypothetical standpoint in which the computer was solely for Minecraft and the budget was $500 or less. The average person should spend $600 out of the gate and get an i5 4440 instead. The only reason I am fine with 2 cores personally is that I own quite...

A few things I have noticed about modded mc from a hardware standpoint

Good choices but new builders can do slightly better for the money. PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Pentium G3258 3.2GHz Dual-Core Processor ($64.95 @ NCIX US) Motherboard: MSI H81M-P33 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($43.98 @ Newegg) Memory: G.Skill Sniper 8GB...

Java too much CPU usage AND Download fail at Texture Stitching FTB Infinity Pack

Don't touch the memory amounts for the launcher, just set 4GB for launching packs themselves. Also untick the box that says 'Show Console?'. The console has issues with consuming vast amounts of memory and CPU when left open for long periods of time.

Java too much CPU usage AND Download fail at Texture Stitching FTB Infinity Pack

Have you tried an older version of Forge without the loading screen? What storage device is your FTB folder on? It sounds like a Forge bug or your hard drive is slowing down massively.

    Recent Events Discussion (RED) Thread

I can't move the posts myself but still wanted to respond. No harm done because I was expecting my post to be moved anyways. An excellent point. I am highly disappointed in Electrodynamics both for its shameless copying without attribution and that it remained piece of concept art for so long...

    Recent Events Discussion (RED) Thread

Take it over to the RED thread. Also, get over it, there is absolutely nothing that says once you make a mod someone else can't try to make a different version.

    Recent Events Discussion (RED) Thread

Excellent, thank you very much. I use the Modded News thread to keep on top of new stuff so wading through images and unrelated comments was a mild annoyance. Now you just have to go do the other 475 pages :P

    Recent Events Discussion (RED) Thread

I see no reason why any post that isn't a mod update shouldn't be deleted or moved to RED.

    32x Faithful 32x32 Pack

A pull request is basically a request to change, delete, or add something to a Git repository. Anyone can make one but only people with write access to a repository can merge them. Here is the 1.4.7 repository link: https://github.com/F32Organization/Faithful32-1.4.7 Here is the guide to...

    32x Faithful 32x32 Pack

FTB Ultimate is only for 1.4.7 I believe. In which case, you want this pack instead: http://www.f32.me/old/F32%20for%201.4.7.zip Please note the 1.4.7 and 1.5.2 packs are not updated anymore unless someone makes a pull request. The 1.6.4 pack still receives support but only by request.

    32x Faithful 32x32 Pack

Note to self, don't rewrite build script while half awake. My code worked perfectly the first time but I forgot the site would need changing as well. Should be fixed.

What's new in modded minecraft today?

Not wrong, but please post links when you can. I can't load Gregtech, IC2 forums are giving me a 404 error. http://www.curse.com/mc-mods/minecraft/227443-thermal-dynamics http://www.curse.com/mc-mods/minecraft/cofhcore http://minecraft.curseforge.com/mc-mods/220333-cofhlib...

    32x Faithful 32x32 Pack

I have a rather simple idea for this which would only take me a minute or two per texture to do. What do you think of this new look for the mossy effect on the pickaxe? http://imgur.com/iuDfRm3

    32x Faithful 32x32 Pack

I made a small blunder in that portion of the site it appears. The displayed hash value was actually for the previous build version of the pack. This should be corrected in this two commits: https://github.com/F32Organization/siteF32/commit/32a5892d00ed7e123747766f2b2ac9f01111d1f9...

Johnleys fast and easy Server Setup Guide.

You are spitting out terms and coming out wrong. I will start at the end, SVN stands for Apache Subversion, its version control software. It has nothing to do with encryption, and its not the same type of software as Samba, its quite different. Next, I guarantee you that the Department of...

Johnleys fast and easy Server Setup Guide.

If you are using Samba over WAN I am actually horrified and a touch curious what lead you to that instead of a proper solution to file transfer. Samba is less secure than other solutions and actually harder to setup. Stopping the use of other utilities is both pointless and detrimental. If you...

    Forum Moderator Applications

Sorry to continue the trend of being slightly off topic, what is the definition of "existing members in good standing"? I am a quality over quantity type of guy so I haven't asked my Github team or anyone that I have helped with servers because while they are awesome people they aren't high...

    Alternative to MineOS

Dedicated user account for Minecraft servers and my startup script fires up a screen session for each server which is remotely connected to for management. If I wanted to break down the access into multiple groups I could quite easily make another user account and move some of the servers there...

    Alternative to MineOS

As of right now? Debian 8 with my very simple personal startup script. I don't need a web server for management, every single device I own has a good SSH and SFTP client available.
