In your next Direwolf20 build, will you bother with IC2?

Oh, so it was Gregtech that made it so you could only put 4 upgrades in a slot? :o

just under 4k EU/t actually (1.6^16*2=3689), and you need 16 overclockers. ;) For a macerator anyway.

so ultimate pack has the latest recommended version (build 178) while direwolf's pack is still on the previous recommended version (build 43). That explains why I am getting mixed reports :P

In your next Direwolf20 build, will you bother with IC2?

There is actually an api already pretty much ready to be used, it just doesn't have all the features necessary to make it really extensible yet (mod authors would have to write their own tick handlers instead of just implementing onTickInInventory for example, and modular items haven't been...

Makes sense. Thanks for the discussion (even if it was not quite on-topic...) I feel like I have a more solid idea of where to go from here (in the overall mechanics sense). @KirinDave: I liked Thaumcraft's research system the first (and even second) time, but I've been through about 10 new...

In your next Direwolf20 build, will you bother with IC2?

I agree 100% here and am guilty of using a 'cheat sheet' a few times when my memory failed me on recipes I had done before on other servers. That crossed my mind as well, simply because it has that 'complex circuitry' aspect to it. I don't know how I feel about using this particular puzzle but...

    Right. It's a gray area - the same gray area as mods themselves. So if someone does not want to distribute mods against their licenses, they should not distribute config files either, which is what the question was about. Edit: How did I get involved in this again? faithInSelf--;

    Ultimate Pack

The question is whether it's against permissions or not. The legal answer is yes. Whether or not people care is up to them - some people want to respect permissions even if there's 0 chance anyone will take them to court over not doing it. You've already made it clear how you feel about the issue.

Configs distributed via launcher would fall under the same convention. You're right, it wouldn't hurt anyone. That's kind of my point: what is legally enforceable and what is reasonable are two very, very different things.

    Ultimate Pack

Definitely nonsense, but true nonetheless. There are a lot of legal technicalities that people usually don't get called on because it's pointless and a waste of time.

Whoaaaaaaa this sure is a thread. Er, this is incorrect. Jetpack without flight control currently has 2 'modes': straight up, and up+forward. up+forward splits your thrust evenly between the two directions. Jetboots and jetpack simply sum their thrust and cost values for a total thrust/cost per...

    Ultimate Pack

Unless they are offering the configs under a permissive license, they would fall in the 'unlicensed' area which means you have no right to do anything with them (not even open them in an editor) You can mod MPS :) I even tried to make it as easy as possible to do! (although it still needs a bit...

In your next Direwolf20 build, will you bother with IC2?

um, there are already gregtech recipes and have been since early february... Maybe. I think it's very important not to substitute 'real fun' (learning a system) for 'fake fun' (randomized rewards) - I don't remember the book this was from but I have found it to be very important. Thaumcraft's...

In your next Direwolf20 build, will you bother with IC2?

you're right that it would provide more ways for other mods to factor in, but at the same time that's more design effort for people who are often already juggling ID conflicts, ore dictionary, balance issues, etc. with potentially hundreds of mods... I don't know :s
  18. M

In your next Direwolf20 build, will you bother with IC2?

While possible, this would be exponentially harder to balance :P and make little sense from a realism perspective (imho... where does all that runoff go?) which is still kinda important to me. I also don't know how I feel about just being a huge resource sink, since there are so many ways of...

In your next Direwolf20 build, will you bother with IC2?

Okay, I guess I'll just keep focused on improving the functional mechanics and adding new modules rather than redesigning any particular part of it :P

In your next Direwolf20 build, will you bother with IC2?

Honestly? I haven't thought too much about how it fits with other mods' progression curves (the gregtech and UE recipes both were based on outside input, since I'm only really familiar with IC2 and ThermalExpansion.) and I'm still experimenting with the mechanics. I'm starting to think maybe...
