    Opinions on Microsoft buying Mojang

It'd be hard for them to limit playing on pre-microsoft versions. AFAIK there are already ways to bypass the login, so I think we can be safe in that one way or another we will be able to play and mod for up to 1.8 at least.

Me too. If they shit all over minecraft, I'll be joining the AAARGGGHHs.

    Opinions on Microsoft buying Mojang

They might, but it seems very much of a gray legal area - if I buy a year card at the local gym, and they after 5 months say "hey, from now on we're going to take 10 bucks per visit even though you have a year card", that's clearly not a valid claim. I think what they might do, to not have to...

    Opinions on Microsoft buying Mojang

First off: If they required monthly subs, wouldn't they be required to give a refund to us if we don't want to pay that? I mean, I've paid for my account to be able to pay minecraft, and if they after that increase the price, I shouldn't be forced to pay what is essentially retroactively for my...

    Opinions on Microsoft buying Mojang

I love this claim. "Businessess are in it only for the profit, so if they do something only for profit, they can't be greedy/evil/immoral!" It's not even circular logic, it's just... no logic at all. You know, if someone's into something only for the sake of maximizing profit, it's a sign...

    Focused modpacks

So, maybe something like this then? >BASICS NEI InvTweaks >TECH Rotarycraft+Electricraft+Reactorcraft Railcraft Applied Energistics EnderStorage >VANITY Carpenter's Blocks Chisel Mod Anyone know of any compability issues between these?

    Focused modpacks

Honestly, not everything needs to be in the modpack. Not having item automation or easy fluid transportation isn't a big issue to me really. Is opis really beneficial for single player or small LAN servers?

    Focused modpacks

That sounds like a good idea. I tried rotarycraft some months ago, but didn't have the patience, but with that as the only techmod it might work well. Would it mix well with various decoration and storage mods? Like, Carpenter's + Better Storage + Bibliocraft? Does it play well with AE? I've...

    Focused modpacks

Thanks for all the feedback, lots of good stuff here! I guess that's one approach, though it basically comes down to making my own pack again then, though of course it's nice to have pre-checked compability etc. Yeah, made my own modpacks before modpacks existed xD As did everyone back in the...

    Focused modpacks

While those modpacks look cool and all, and definately have more theme than say Horizons or Unleashed or what have you, they are still pretty huge and sprawling; they include 5+ power sources/types and very distinct and different gameplay styles. I'm looking for smaller, and more compact...

    Focused modpacks

It seems most famous modpacks are to some degree made with the attitude of "all ze mods!". I get why, it's inclusive, gives something for everyone on a server and allows interesting interactions between different mods. But personally, I tend to prefer smaller, more focused modpacks - not just...

Ask a simple question, get a simple answer

Thing is, if I had to make a vanilla timer, I could just tie it to a hopper beneath it. The vanilla timer is the big part of an automatic brewery, the brewery module itself is only 4x3x1 big. I did however realize I had translocators, and once I had read up on them where able to construct a...

Ask a simple question, get a simple answer

Yeah, I'm playing with just a few mods and thaumcraft is basically the only one which has options for automation (the others being tinker's construct and better storage). I guess I could do it vanilla style with a simple clock, but I want to keep it compact. I've tried making a compact emptying...

Ask a simple question, get a simple answer

Is it possible to get TC golems to empty brewing stands when they're ready, with less than inputting _every single_ potion in the game? Something like "fill with anything *except*" and then put water bottle in the except.

Ask a simple question, get a simple answer

Is there a guide to thaumcraft 4 (or even better, TC 4.1) golems and upgrades? Some of them seem fairly obvious, but for example the entropy upgrade I have no idea how it works. Specifically, I'm using golems to harvest ore and essense berries, but the harvest golems seem to stand around for a...

    Smeltery contents disappearing?

Oh, and one more thing: WAILA/NEI correctly displays the amount of liquid metal when aiming at the controller. It's just the GUI that's empty and the drains that aren't working.

    Smeltery contents disappearing?

So, I'm playing TiC on minecraft 1.7.10, with a handfull of other mods (mainly Thaumic Tinkerer and Thaumcraft 4). There's been a few of the usual graphic glitches with smelteries, sometimes the smelting progress not showing, sometimes the lava looking weird in tanks etc, but yesterday all...

    Is "Blood Magic" Overpowered?

This sums up my general view of achievements. Though I do think they skipped the usage of achievements as teaching devices, and that is a fair usage.

Thanks! I'll probably ditch dyetrees (ugh...ly) and TiCo (not unfitting, just tired of it) but thanks for the other suggestions, especially witchery! Had heard the name, but never bothered to check it out. Looks cool though.

    Is "Blood Magic" Overpowered?

When the goal of the achievement is for the player to understand how something works, it fills that purpose splendidly. Achievement "hunting" isn't worth it in minecraft though. Probably. Which is why I've never grasped it.
