TiC makes it just too easy. My most important mod? GregTech 1.6.4. It adds all the things ;)

How do you see a vacuum hopper to really help with that?

Because the 9x9 area the vacuum hopper covers makes such a hugh difference

Best for starting out is still the good old coal 'engine' (enter your power network machine here, dynamo, generator, etc.)

I usually start with bread and use the wheat later on to breed cows, unless I find a village super early on. Then I start with carrots and go to potatoes
