Autonomous Activator, so I have two - one to break cobble into gravel, one to break gravel into sand.

Mostly, mobs will spawn too far away to aggro. If you stay still, a few zombies might wander up to you but you shouldn't have too many interruptions. You could also stand on a 5x5 2-block pillar to keep the other mobs away, with a 3x3 ceiling so Endermen can get close to you .

Spatial pylons were there in 1.6, but I think the config disabled them by default as they were a bit buggy. Not sure if they ever became stable prior to 1.7.

    Fun With Unstable Ingots

Technically I suppose a mod can do anything it wants, it could just spawn in the item with the right NBT data for free. Anything one mod can do, another mod can do. But modders tend to respect other modders' wishes when it comes to specialist items like this.

Those little things that irk you about Minecraft

I think that "strip mining" or turtle "smart quarrying" under your base is a bad idea as it causes a ton more textures to load. This is fixed in 1.8 I think with some clever hidden surface detection (so, I guess, no more x-ray hacks?). My 1.4.7 world suffered from that really badly.

Those little things that irk you about Minecraft

An alumentum factory is trivial. Just label your alembics, pipe the redundant aspects e.g. arbor into a labelled void jar, done. It doesn't have to be a waste of space, unless you only use vanilla to manage your redstone levels. MFR & SFM can be used to make compact level-based redstone control...

Depends where they are - if they match up to the waypoints that you set in 1.1.2 then they will be from that version and will not match the design of buildings in 1.1.3, but I don't think that that really matters as the new buildings aren't significantly more dangerous than the new ones.

[1.6.4]Crash Landing [Hardcore, HQM] version 1.1.x BETA STABLE

I know that when 1.1.3 beta was distributed as a zip file, you did need to delete the old version's directories first. I made that mistake, just unzipped the 1.1.3 stuff, and the old ship was there at the same co-ordinates as in 1.1.2 (north of the small city). This is because the new "template"...

I think it's the bow, as AFAIK looting is based on the item that you are holding when the mob dies, so in theory you could swap from your bow to your looting sword while the arrow is in the air. I think someone mentioned this on a recent ForgeCraft video. I'm not 100% sure of this information...

[1.6.4]Crash Landing [Hardcore, HQM] version 1.1.x BETA STABLE

For a true hard core experience, set the game clock to midnight on starting the map. I usually excavate under the ship anyway, and dig a hole down to bedrock just so that I have a place to get dust without venturing out at night.

[1.6.4]Crash Landing [Hardcore, HQM] version 1.1.x BETA STABLE

When I click on the first watering can icon in NEI, I only get the info screen, not the recipe screen, so I assumed it's not got a recipe. I just assumed that the watering can was disabled deliberately, as I feel it makes the map too easy. I think I'll play without one. I thought NEI cheat mode...

[1.6.4]Crash Landing [Hardcore, HQM] version 1.1.x BETA STABLE

I managed to dig and build a trench and wall around the main body of the ship before the end of the first day. Grow some grass (sieve dirt for grass seeds), let it spread, and right-click some of the grass with a mattock (always leaving at least one to spread, and make sure there is no water...

1.6.4 Shader Mod working properly (Download link) or: Get your Minecraft beautified!

GPU = Graphics Processing Unit, usually either the main component on a graphics card, or sometimes integrated in the motherboard. Integrated graphics (that are part of the main board inside your computer, rather than a separate graphics card) are generally not good enough to play games like...

[1.6.4]Crash Landing [Hardcore, HQM] version 1.1.x BETA STABLE

I like the premise. The use of fast-forward is cool as well. Oh, you can make stencils with four sticks, which is cheaper. And I never bother with a tool rod scencil, I just use sticks as rods. Until I want to make a stone rod for a cast to make metal rods. But at the start of the game, it saves...
