Yeah in 1.5 more and more people are adding support. It's sort of a horse race between Immibis Microblocks and Facades. I suspect IMB will win because IMB can work on any block, even blocks that the author of the mod didn't intent to.

I'm surprised you need optifine for decent framerates in 1.5.*. Most of my framerate issues went away.

You should just refuse to pass your load function if you detect optifine. It would be a public service. Optifine breaks nearly every mod these days.

Modpack maintainers have almost 0 rights to the work they do. You can take their configs and use their outputs with impunity. However, some mod authors think that they can restrict your use of their mod in monetized footage. My advice there is that they're stepping over a line far enough that...

Not that I can tell. It has multiplayer features but... That's a tiny sliver of an enormous mod. Indeed, its more of a co-op mod. Making high-tier spells is a ton easier with friends.

Sorcery is super early. It's Way's get, so you might ask him for a tutorial. It currently requires someone to spawn in ecoplasm for you on our server, because the mod doesn't spawn ghosts in BoP/Natura nether. Way has reported this.
