His question was whether a world restart was necessary. According to Jaded's updates, the FTB team was working on a tool that would save worlds. I, too was wondering whether this tool was finished and working. Extensive testing is not needed for someone on the FTB team to clarify this.

It would take only a minute for the FTB team to put out an ETA. Because they haven't done so, I can assume they have a REASON not to. I'm not sure what this reason is, but it's probably something along the lines of, "We are working our hardest to finish but have no idea how long it will take."...

That's something totally different. This crash bug is due to id conflicts, not an outdated mod. See slowpoke's explaination above in the original announcement. We're still waiting for a modpack update with the fix.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but according to Jaded's and Slowpoke's recent updates, the world-saver tool is NOT the only thing holding up the release. As for the bug: If you enable BoP, you get a crash on startup.

I just wish that when I enable it, it would STAY enabled when the pack updates.

Why wasn't it included as a non-disabled mod, then?

Personally, I wouldn't care about a world restart, as my "main survival world" is still in the punching trees phase. I intentionally avoided making progress with the new packs because I figured they'd be buggy and my stuff might get messed up.
